Mixing vintage & contemporary

Youthquake in Gold Rush by alington
Youthquake in Gold Rush, a photo by alington on Flickr.
I'm trying out some various fashions and realizing that getting to know vintage Francie may not be the cheapest alternative for Poppy Parker clothing. The fashions are really adorable, however--very mod and colorful.

This is Youthquake Poppy Parker (Integrity Toys) redressed in Gold Rush (#1222), a vintage Francie fashion. Poppy is a little wider in the hips than Francie, but with some styles, like this empire waist dress, she can carry it off.

Her accessories include glasses and a purse by Barbie, and jewelry from Paparazzi Bait Adele.

You can see more photos on Flickr.

Hair Happenin's Francie, stock #1122

Here is a 1970 Hair Happenin's Francie doll, mint in her original box. She was available only as a blonde with chin-length hair and came with 4 additional hairpieces. Her hair is parted in the middle and she wore a blue ribbon headband. (The headband on my Francie has turned purple).  Her eyes and brows were brown, she has rooted lashes, and her lips were pink. She wears an aqua nylon mini-dress with attached panties and crochet sleeves and waist accents. Accessories include a clear X stand, blue soft pointed-toe heels, and a green and silver foil wristtag. This Francie features the TNT (Twist-'N-Turn) waist and bendable legs. Hair Happenin's France is fairly easy to find and the current market value is about $95 for a loose doll in near mint condition.

OOAK Fashion Doll Series: Francie by Laurie Everton

This Francie doll has had her hair and eyelashes rerooted in jet-black katsilk saran hair and her face paint redone by Laurie Everton. I love her red lips and dark hair as these colors were never available with the original Francie doll.  Her light blue floral print dress with lace trim is by jennygrey. Her fashion is completed by white mod hard low heels.
