Gilded eyelids - from Jason Wu runway show

I didn't understand the trend at first, but it turns out that Jason Wu actually used that sparkling gold (gilded lids) technique on his models for his spring 2014 collection. I'm a little late to the party, I know, but better late than never, right?

Check out this article here on Glamour.com for more information about this technique. Jason Wu's gilded lids show up as 6/8. Maybe it will help me enjoy seeing glitter on my dolls eyes? Who knows? There's that saying about monkeys, too. It looks pretty IRL, though, I have to admit.

Real life fashion dolls - Jason Wu

Jason Wu Ready-to-Wear fashion from Bergdorf Goodman
So, in my window shopping endeavors the other day, I made a few discoveries. Of course, you're familiar with Montaigne Market's Fashion Royalty exclusive that I mentioned a few days ago. I found the original design that this doll is based on, ready to order today from Bergdorf Goodman.

Unlike the doll, the people-sized fashion here shows a sequined bias-cut skirt (but you can also find a similar dress in silver, here) with the cropped trench jacket. Now, seeing the prices of these designer fashions, I wonder, does the 150 Euro price tag of a designer doll seem quite so high?

I have to confess, I'm even impressed with the shoes and the clutch--pretty nicely reproduced, at least in the promotional photos.

And check out the video attached to the fashion--Jason Wu answers our 5 Questions. It's really cute. (Click the more button, and then you will see the link to the video.) I hate to admit how often I've worn acid-washed jeans... as a child of the 1980s, of course! Not recently! LOL!

Montaigne Market Fashion Royalty Exclusive

An exclusive Fashion Royalty doll will be released and sold at Montaigne Market, based on a Jason Wu design that will be displayed as part of his Paris Fashion Week collection next month.

Priced at 150 euros (about $200), this limited edition of 300 (not 250) will be on sale around March 1.

She's wearing a sporty cream jacket with a belt, over an elegant sequined dress, and she includes tiny Montaigne Market shopping bags in addition to the Daphne clutch, one of Jason's designs. I particularly love the shoes!

My favorite pieces from the Jason Wu for Target collection

My fellow bloggers Valerie and Carolyn and I were lucky enough to hit Target yesterday when the doors opened for the sale of Jason Wu's Target collection. Valerie secured a place for us in line at 7 AM. We were 5th in a line of about 50 people. 5 minutes before the doors opened a Target Security employee let us know where the Wu merchandise was located and encouraged everyone to play nice. It was a very fun experience. For the most part shoppers were kind and respectful. I saw several people trading and/or giving away fashions that they had secured but did not want. There didn't seem to be anyone grabbing cartfuls of merchandise for resale. I was very impressed with the collection. The pieces are classic with feminine detailing. All except one of the clothing items I purchased are machine washable. Of course, the prices were very reasonable, too.

On to my favorites:

This floral print handbag can be worn cross-body with the removeable strap or carried by the blue faux-leather handle. There are several interior pockets and a back zippered compartment. I love the detail in the metal clasp. It's just darling....

Next is this black flared dress which is quite similar to Poppy Parker's Holiday in the Hamptons dress. It is fully lined and has a pretty tulle underskirt peeking out from the hemline.

Next up is blue short-sleeve blouse with white dots. This will go great with white pants, skinny jeans, or a short white skirt.

I'm sure Target is sold-out of just about everything at this point but don't worry there are plenty available on the secondary market. If you'd like to see more photos from this collection check out my flickr.

Jason Wu...at Target?!

Yes, it's official. Jason Wu is the next designer to collaborate on a line specifically for Target. There aren't a lot of details known yet, except that it will be a smaller line than the recent Missoni for Target and that the Wu line will debut on February 5, 2012. So, who's lining up with me bright and early on the 5th?
