2012 IFDC backdrops...and a few tips on how to create your own!

At my third International Fashion Doll Convention this year, I decided to create two backdrops for the photography night and to then be raffled off. (If you want to see photos of all the backdrops from this year’s convention, please check out Shuga-Shug’s Flickr photos.) Conventioneers can pose their travel dolls in front of each backdrop for some unique photo opportunities. My favorite backdrops from last year were the ones with seats, so I didn’t have to fiddle with trying to get my Fashion Royalty to stand on her own, so I decided to incorporate seating into both of mine. I’m so proud of how they turned out, that I had to post some photos. If you’re a crafty DIY-er, like me, I’ve also included some tips on how to create your own.

MTW Award

I'm pleased to announce that the Fashion Doll Review has received one of the MTW (Mini Treasures Wiki) Awards for 2012 this year. For details of the award, and to see and visit the other award winners, check out this link.

Mini Treasures is now on Pinterest as well. This is a great venue for browsing miniatures, I think--even if you collect fashion dolls for the fashions and not diorama accessories, you will want to start miniatures after a few minutes on Pinterest.

You can find my boards on there as well.

Marwencol Project - Donate action figures and dolls for a good cause!

Have you seen Marwencol? It's really a touching movie.

I first heard about Mark Hogancamp on the radio show-to-TV, This American Life. It was one of their most moving pieces, and I loved it.

Do you want to make a difference? Now's your chance to donate supplies--all in 1:6 scale--to Mark and his tiny world.

Please check out the post on Terri Gold's site here for complete details. And please donate. It's a great cause.

Dollhouse miniatures - Mini treasures wiki / 1to6

Dollhouse miniatures - Mini treasures wiki / 1to6

For those of you who are diorama enthusiasts, make sure you check out this amazing Wiki, called Mini treasures. It's really fantastic. A lot of the articles are written for smaller scale--true miniatures, but I was able to come across this page on 1/6 scale (playscale) items.

Why don't you join and add your expertise? Do you sell playscale miniatures? Even better! Add your 2 cents, and then add a link to your store!
