1976 SuperSize Barbie

My newest girl: a 1976 SuperSize Barbie. (One of the few dolls I own that is older than me!)

I acquired her in a trade at my local doll meet last weekend. She came with her original white outfit (plus box, accessories & stand), as well as this blue dress and a handmade velvet dress. She is the same proportions as Barbie, but 18 inches tall. I was drawn to her beautiful face and plan to make her design her a beautiful wardrobe to match it.

I couldn't help snapping a few photos...

April Doll Meet

April Doll Meet, originally uploaded by alington.
This is a limited edition JID Amy with real skin. She's just so lifelike and wonderful. And she has sculpted teeth. Just wonderful! You can see more photos from our meet here. The theme was Spring Green and Easter Dresses.

There are good things and bad things about going to real-life doll meets. You get to meet new dolls in person, see dolls that you don't own, and have maybe only seen online, and perhaps hadn't considered adding to your collection before. That's the good and bad about doll meets!

April Doll Meet

April Doll Meet, originally uploaded by alington.
This is Au Printemps Renée Devereaux from the Fall/Holiday 2009 Tonner Doll collection. She's really a gorgeous doll--often when you see her in photographs, she has sort of a pointed chin, and it definitely is less square than Louise's face. But she's really pretty, and the outfit is well made.

I snapped this photo at yesterday's local doll meet at our hostess's house. Check out the rest of my photos on Flickr.

San Diego BJD Meet

San Diego BJD Meet, originally uploaded by alington.
I went to a BJD meet in my local area today. It was really fun. I was so excited to meet so many fun collectors and their dolls, and also to feel like I actually belonged to a group.

And... I left with a new doll. I've had my eye on one for a long time--a Wake-Up sculpt from Peak's Woods, and Cue was at the top of my list for the last year. And indeed, she came home with me. I couldn't pass her up in her one-of-a-kind Rococo gown.

You can see more of the doll photos on my Flickr Photostream. So many gorgeous dolls!
