Happy 15th Anniversary, Tyler! (Dedicated to Carolyn!)

Tyler Wentworth, Robert Tonner's signature fashion doll, is one of the founding models and dolls of his company. She has a large fan base, and also a signature style, as you can see in this doll, Signature Style Tyler from 2009. She wears a white blouse (this one sateen with rhinestone buttons) and a black skirt. She has celebrated her fifteenth anniversary this year.


Classic doesn't get more classy in Soir de Fete, a Theatre de la Mode style from 2002.


Also from 2002, Reflet d'Argent is a second Theatre de la Mode fashion. I adore the ballgown and the silver beading on the dress and gloves.


Metro Styl Tyler was a convention exclusive (from the 2006 Metropolis luncheon) with gorgeous black curls and a lovely red and black outfit. She includes two skirts, I believe, for multiple styling options.


Mademoiselle a la Mode Tyler is a Paris Fashion Doll exclusive from 2008, limited to 100 dolls. She was in my collection for quite a while, and just a lovely lady. Her softly blushed cheeks always did something special for me.


Fire Opal Tyler is a wigged dressed doll released in 2011. I love her bright matte lips, and that she retains a classic style, even in her edgier fashion.


In 2013, Tyler and Sydney were released as wigged basics. I love Tyler's peachy brown shade. It sets off her bold blue eyes.


You can't mention Tyler without bringing up the controversial 2.0 sculpt. To many collectors, this will never be Tyler, but I've always loved her face. My favorite issue is Au Milieu de l'Hiver, a 2008 limited 100 edition from the Paris Fashion Doll Festival.

 
Along the same lines, in 2009, Celebration a Paris was released with short blonde curls. This Tyler 2.0 is simply adorable, and is also limited to 100.

Wonder Woman 52 uses the new Tyler 2.0 sculpt on a heroine body, but I never dress her as a super hero. Her hair is soft and full--right out of the box--with minimal styling needed, which I appreciate, as most of my regular readers know. She's dressed in a slightly too small Theatre de la Mode gown called Amethyst, and jewels handcrafted by my friend Tracy.

Tyler also made an appearance (several, in fact) in resin. This is the first, Ultimate Basic Tyler. Mine has had a faceup by Overnight Flight, which really softens her features.

Wonder Woman 52

The lovely Wonder Woman 52 makes her appearance on the blog (finally) in the Amethyste fashion (an older Theatre de la Mode gown from 2003, I believe, which barely snaps over her rather busty heroic figure).

Wonder Woman uses the Tyler Wentworth 2.0 sculpt with raven hair and blue eyes. I think she restyles very well, though she'd fit better in DeeAnna Denton fashions, I think. I love her!

New release from Tonner Doll Company

Tonner Doll Company has released the remaining pieces of its Fall/Holiday collection for 2013. Here's the first portion--several photos aren't yet available.

From the American Models collection, there is a new Fairytale Basic doll for $299.99, LE300. Arrival date is to be announced. Her photo is shown above. She's wigged (including the blonde wig shown and an additional short brown wig as well) with inset hazel/green eyes. Additionally, there will be another doll, Constance, in a blue and silver brocade princess style gown with chestnut hair, inset blue eyes and the lily skin tone, LE200, for $449.99, with a shipping date to be determined.

Four new basic dolls have been added to the Cami & Jon collection. Resort Stripe Basic Cami is available as blonde or mink, plus Jon and Liu Liu are also available. Each is $119.99 and include removable wigs, acrylic strappy sandals, and painted eyes. The stands are sold separately.

One dressed doll, Spring Frost Cami, is absolutely gorgeous. She's wigged with brown eyes, and includes a gorgeous brocade dress with fringe trime, a twill lurex coat, nude hose, and beaded jewelry. Her shoes are really cool, too. She's limited to 300 and retails for $209.99. Shipping is TBA.

Two outfits are also available. Above, Summer Lace is limited to 300 and retails for $99.99. It will ship on October 25. It includes a feathered taffeta hat, and chiffon and open lace dress, beaded earrings and faux leather shoes.

Below, Chelsea Chill is a nautical inspired outfit for $99.99. Shipping is TBA on this LE300 set. It includes a black bodysuit, black and white skirt, fuchsia coat and black faux leather shoes. It also retails for $99.99.

A new basic has also been added to the Precarious collection. Precarious White Basic wears a black removable wig and has blue painted eyes with applied lashes. She has a white knit dress, white strappy sandals, panties, sunglasses, and is limited to 500. Her ship date is TBA. Her stand is sold separately.

Two new items have also been added to the Tyler Wentworth collection. Chase#5 makes a new appearance--I believe she is a resculpted version of Shauna, as that is what the model below, Warm-up Basic Shauna, is called. She's limited to 500 and retails for $119.99. She looks a lot like her, too, including gorgeous flame and chestnut blended hair in a traditional wrapped ponytail. Shipping date is to be announced.

Above, City Tweed also uses this new sculpt. She has blue eyes and a non-removable mink wig. She wears a tweed coat dress, black petticoat, gloves, tights, beaded necklace, and faux leather shoes. She includes a stand, is LE300, and retails for $219.99, with her shipping TBA.

Classic beauty at its finest, it's All Glamour Tyler Wentworth. She's Tonner Doll's latest basic, and I think she's stunning. I think it's been too long since we've seen a "plain old" basic, and this pair is anything but basic.

Tyler has had a complete face-up by Beesou of Overnight Flight. She's just lovely and soft, I think.

Be sure to take a peek at the sales and found treasures at Vogue Collectibles! In their latest promotional newsletter, there was a surprise announcement of some hard-to-find dolls, including some extra Poppy Parker dolls from this year, Hansel and Gretel from the NuFantasy collection, and a lot of hard-to-find retired Tonner Doll Company collectibles, including Wizard of Oz, Brenda Starr, and previous Tyler Wentworth collections.

Another doll I miss

Classic for any occasion, from 2009, the lovely Signature Style Tyler was a limited edition of 300. Her traditional fashion designer uniform jazzed up a little to a taffeta blouse with rhinestone buttons, a rhinestone buckle belt, and a micro sequined black skirt, this lovely brunette took her signature style to a new level for her 10-year anniversary.

Dolls I miss...

Bordeaux Tyler Wentworth is a Paris Fashion Doll Festival doll from 2002. She was in my collection for a long while, and I sold her quite some time ago. She's dressed in a fabulous silk 1920s era flapper dress. It's so adorable!

If you like this doll, you can still find her for sale on Doll Expo. Click on Online Shop, then on Tonner Dolls, under Tyler. She is 95 Euros plus shipping. (I think they may be having issues with the English language version of the site, so use the French version and Google translate if needed.) They have great customer service, and lots of hard to find fabulous dolls!

My doll collection is pretty fluid, but I find that fluidity often brings nostalgia with it sometimes. I'm hoping to add a fabulous new resin Tonner to my collection this weekend. We shall see!

Tonner's Nu Mood - and mine!

Tyler's Nu Mood

The much anticipated release of Tyler Wentworth's Nu Mood has been released, and I'm excited to be able to post about it. I cannot decide which of the fabulous photos to post--a great site to see the entire collection in one place is Dreamcastle Dolls (and yes, this link will actually take you to the dolls site), as well as Tonner Doll's new website.

Some new inspiration for designer Robert Tonner, the Nu Mood dolls are available in three different body types for $59.99 per doll:

Fashion (wigged) - includes Tyler and Sydney. I'm noticing what looks like an articulated waist.

Dance (rooted hair) - includes Carrie, Parker and Jess. Smaller bust, it seems.

Curvy (wigged dolls) - including Bettie and Paige. Larger bust, but it appears she too has an articulated waist.


There are two skin tones:

Tyler skin tone and

Spice. So far, you may choose from seven different face sculpts:

• Tyler
• Sydney
• Carrie
• Parker (Friday Foster)
• Jess (Cinderella or Cami)
• Bettie
• Paige

Additionally, for play, you can add In Step or Nu Mood Hands to your doll, which gives you three pairs of hands and feet in either of the skin tones for an additional $24.99 per set.


Eight styles of wigs are available for $39.99 each. My favorite is this one:

Then--the clothing and accessories! Three different pairs of ballet shoes, ten pairs of heels (including boots) and five pairs of flat shoes are available, for $34.99 per pair, except the ballet sets, which retail for $39.99. I admit, I've fallen for the ballet shoes.

There are three tops available ($49.99), and three pairs of pants ($34.99 per pair), and six different skirts (ranging from $44.99-69.99). Additionally, five bags are available as well ($34.99). Here are a few sample outfits:

Interestingly, the outfit pieces say that they will fit all the dolls in the Nu Mood™ collection, so while the dolls have new bodies, the size differences must not be terribly significant, or the designs are such that they fall nicely on various body sizes and shapes. (This might be a good news for original Tyler body fans!)

In looking at this first release, I have to say there are a lot of choices. The concept is a little like build-your-own Tonner Doll. I'd be very interested to know if the bust is interchangeable with previous bodies, and exactly how the body has changed. I wonder if you might be able to swap the upper torsos of dolls in order to take advantage of the new foot options. (Specifically, I'm thinking of some older, lovely Theatre de la Mode Tyler Wentworth dolls I've been ogling lately.)

Also, some collectors might complain about the prices. Taken as a full set, as above, I'd say they are comparable to the other dressed dolls in Tonner's currently release, with a slight premium on being able to design the doll yourself. (Additionally, these are retail prices listed--not what you would pay from a dealer, and they aren't licensed products, which generally have a premium.) 

The playability of the hands and feet are a plus, and the option to use the hands on the other dolls is intriguing. I really adore the ballet feet--and not just for dance. I think it would make for a fun photo shoot to pose dolls barefoot (I'm pretty much a California girl, now, I admit), with one en point foot stretching out to relax. I like that you can style the same doll in many different ways--with hands, feet, wigs, and bodies.

I'm thrilled to see Carrie and Friday again. Plus, I really didn't care for the Pin Up sculpt--till Paige. The styles of clothing are light, airy, whimsical--they remind me of something Tyler would design herself, if I may go that far. 

The downsides to this collection: First, the number of choices and options are overwhelming. I know I'd like to add Paige, but I also want Jess. Having a single skin tone would be easier as far as sharing hands and feet (I'd really only need one foot/hand package per skin tone, I think). How to decide?

It would be easier for me if all the dolls were wigged (but I know there are collectors out there who can't stand wigs). Already, I've seen comments about having a brunette Jess. 

Or if you could order upper and lower bodies separately--but what a mess that would be! However, that would solve the problem of wanting a truly design your own doll. Prices would probably increase then, too.

I can't even imagine what went into designing this collection--how to decide which sculpts go on which bodies. You just can't make every collector happy--but this comes close. I'm thrilled to see new body sculpts--and I think Mr. Tonner has needed some inspiration in the Wentworth arena recently. I'm glad to see the dance/fashion/1950s styles of dolls, attention to detail in facial screening to correspond for those styles, and hope to see more in the future.*

Plus, finding a new basic Tonner Doll for $59.99 is really a pretty good deal. Adding a foot or hand package to make the doll you want (or perhaps swapping with someone, or selling the extra pieces on the secondary market) is a price I'm certainly willing to pay.

Now all that's left for me is to decide which one(s) I'd like the most!

2006 Basic Redhead from Tonner's American Model collection

This gorgeous 22" Basic Redhead American model retailed originally for $99. Some dealers may still have her in stock. Then, what you'd want to do is hire a designer like Jennygrey Designs and ask if she might be able to make a dress inspired by Autumn Gold Tyler's dress for your new girl, in American Model size. It's really lovely.

New Tonner items released!

Madame Bovary American Model, $399.99 LE100

Tonner Doll's last release of 2011 has been announced, and there are quite a few gorgeous new dolls. Visit your favorite Tonner dealer today to place your order.

I'll go through the list alphabetically.

Above, two new dressed dolls have been added to the American Model collection, Madame Bovary ($399.99) and Platinum Luxury ($349.99). Madame Bovary's shipping date has yet to be announced, but Platinum Luxury (who reminds me of Sydney Candescence) is shipping now. Both are limited to 100 pieces, and have inset acrylic eyes. Madame is rooted, Luxury is wigged. Wow!

The latest addition to Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland collection is Mallymkun the Doormouse, a dressed Tonner Character Figure, made from resin. He's limited to 250 pieces, and retails for $69.99. Ship date is to be announced.

Two wonderful new dressed Antoinette dolls have been released. First, dressed in yellow (she says hello) is Allure. She's limited to 300 and retails for $169.99. She has light brown rooted hair, Tyler's skin tone, green painted eyes, and a gorgeous gold dress, which appears to me to be inspired by the 1920s. She includes a black feathered hair piece, gold and black jewelry, black shoes, gloves, and black hose.

Second, is Simplicity. This gorgeous red-haired, grey-eyed Antoinette is dressed in a lovely navy outfit, including pants, jacket and halter top, and includes boots and a silver necklace. She's limited to 300 and retails for $179.99. Both dolls shipping dates are to be announced.

Several new exciting items have been added to the Cami & Jon collection. Two new wigged Basic dolls (Cami and Jon) will ship on December 21. They both have inset acrylic eyes (Cami's are green, and Jon's are brown), and both include two wigs (Cami: blonde and black, Jon: brown and red). Both dolls are limited to 500 and retail for $109.99.

Next, three new outfits for Andy Mills (and Matt and Russell) have been announced. Central Park, Washington Square, and Chelsea Look retail for $89.99 and are limited to 300 each. Chelsea look will ship December 21, and the others will be determined.

The most exciting additions to the line are two new Theatre de la Mode dressed dolls. Both dolls use the TDLM sculpt on the Antoinette body. Midnight #83 has blonde rooted hair in a braided up-do with blue eyes in a cameo skin tone. She is wearing a black velvet and chiffon dress with crystal buttons, black feathered headband, crystal earrings and black shoes. She retails for $199.99 and will ship December 21.

My favorite of the two is Royale #2, with grey eyes and fancy auburn updo of curls. She's dressed in a pleated purple gown with a petticoat, gold and rhinestone jewelry, black gloves, hose, and black shoes. Her shipping date is to be announced, and she retails for $224.99. Both dolls are limited to 100.

Available for shipping now, this lovely 16" Scarlett O'Hara doll, Christmas 1863, retails for $249.99 and is a limited edition of 300. She includes a green printed gown with embroidered collar and cuffs, antique cameo brooch, petticoat, gold earrings, green shoes and a green and red hair decoration.

Lots of excitement from the Gowns by Anne Harper collection. Two new outfits are available for preorder. Anna Karenina (sized for 16" dolls) includes the wig shown, black dress with silk flower trim, rhinestone jewelry, black shoes and white gloves. It's limited to 150 pieces for $149.99. It's gorgeous!

Delightfully, three new outfits are available for the 13" Revlon dolls. Silver Shimmer retails for $79.99 includes a black and silver dress, sparkling tights, beaded earrings and matching shoes.

Midas Touch retails for $84.99. It's a gold sequined dress with gold shoes and rhinestone bracelet. Photos are still coming.

Velvet Dazzle retails for $79.99. This outfit includes a velvet strapless dress, matching black gloves and sash with a rhinestone buckle, red lamé coat, rhinestone necklace, and black pumps. All three of these outfits are limited to 500 each, and have shipping dates to be decided.
