Big and small? New IT FR:16 release inspirations

With the help of this handy Fashion Royalty Reference List, I've been able to locate photos for the original 12" dolls that are the inspiration (I believe) for the latest FR:16 release.

Above, it's Purple Factor Adele Makeda from 2003, next to Amethyst Factor Anais McKnight. Duh. Just look at the name.

Red Blooded Woman Kyori Sato (2004) is pretty close to Hot Blooded Elsa Lin.

Cosmetic Takeover (2004) Natalia Fatale is nearly mentioned in Cosmetic Surrender Elsa Lin's name. (Photo courtesy Topaze aka LittleBlackButterfly)

Obsidian Society Vanessa Perrin and Obsidian Culture Hanne Erikson share more in common than their names.

Now, I'm not sure what my problem was with this last one. It's Silver Society Veronique Perrin and Platinum Society Hanne Erikson. Down to the actual fur stole--these girls are a very close match! At first I was thinking the latest version of Vero, Breathless, was also a good inspiration.

My point... if you're a fan of the older Fashion Royalty girl and their fashions, you might want to give these taller girls a try. The fashions look pretty cool. And the quality is excellent--at least, it has been in the past productions.

Photos are from Integrity Toys and that handy Fashion Royalty reference list.

Integrity Toys new release: FR:16

My favorite part of the latest IT release has got to be the new FR:16 line. As many of you know, I'm a huge BJD fan, and these dolls can share clothing with Fairyland's Chicline dolls perfectly. This collection fits my ideal style! I adore them all. I would do anything to see outfits available for sale separately.

There are five dolls in total with an early May delivery date. One is available only from Angelic Dreamz's new site, Couture Dolls. They are all limited to 300 and retail for $175. You can preorder them today.

Above, the new character, Hanne Erikson in Platinum Society. I think she's my favorite. My friend Megann of MegannArt has recently gotten me rather obsessed with dolls in white, and she rather fits the bill. This doll features the Japan skin tone, blue eyes, and super pale lips. There are crystals and pearl details on her sheath dress, and she includes a faux fur wrap, crystal pumps, a ring, feathered veiled hairband, clutch, earrings, and beaded bracelet. She looks like a snow queen, similar an older Vero fashion--I have another post about these in the works!

With her style inspiration as Adele Makeda, Anais McNight appears as Amethyst Factor. I love this outfit, too--it reminds me so much of the Modern Pompadour collection from 2006. She uses the light honey skin tone with brown eyes, with plum and lavender makeup. Her cocktail dress is lingerie inspired--black lace over lavender satin--and she includes a deep purple stole, gloves, t-strap pumps, a clutch, and lots of jewelry.

Elsa Lin appears in Cosmetic Surrender reminding me a little of a taller version of Natalia Fatale--especially the latest convention release, Brazen Beauty. She uses the new hispanic skin tone with a super naked, J-Lo style makeup palette and brown eyes. I think I might like her face best. Her hair is called radiant brunette and styled in soft curls--I hope IT can pull this off. Her short lace cocktail dress has a soft flounce at the hem, asymmetric black embroidery detail, and she too carries a nude "fur" stole. her perfect nude heels, black clutch, gold bracelets, chandelier earrings and ring complete her look.

A taller version of Kyori, it's Hot Blooded Elsa Lin. I'm a little surprised to see two versions of the same sculpt, but it's kind of neat to see the versatility of the sculpt at  the same time. This version uses the Japan skin tone with jet black hair in a bun, brown eyes, red lips and dramatic makeup. Her dress is pretty amazing, and corsets on the side, allowing a black top to peek through the top. Her oversized earrings add drama, as do her contrasting bangle bracelets, and her deep red fur adds just a little softness to the overall feel of the outfit. Strappy shoes complete the ensemble.

The Couture Dolls exclusive is the new character, Hanne Erikson in Obsidian Culture. Obviously inspired by Vanessa Perrin, her fiery red curls and black embroidered suit pay homage to the wonderful 12" version of Obsidian Society--one of my favorite Vanessa Perrin dolls. She even includes a similar mesh veil, cage boots, purse, gloves, and fishnet stockings as the original--done in her own fashion. She is only available from Couture Dolls. (You will have to register for an account in order to even see the listing.) She is available for $175 plus shipping, and there is a $35 deposit +shipping required. I'm wondering how on earth I will resist her... I might need her just for the outfit! It's fantastic!

IT: 16 at 1600 Tea Party

A new event for convention, 16 at 1600 Tea Party, this optional breakout event was held in the hotel's Cascade American bistro. Guests were offered buffet-style sandwiches, cookies and cupcakes, lemonade, iced tea, and coffee.

The centerpiece doll is Sheen Siren Elsa (the same doll as the FR:16 in the gold and black gown)--and her outfit and facial screening is just amazing. From the detailing of her truly micro-sequined jacket, to the scale of her striped blouse and jewelry, this doll is really gorgeous. Check out the mesh on her shoes!

Guests were each treated to a free three-pack of FR:16 shoes with incredible detailing. You must get your hands on a pack of these shoes--especially the pink and gold ones.

Additionally, we were given a sneak peek of what's to come with this size of doll--Poppy's granddaughter, Talulla. She is a fashionista and blogger, will have access to both vintage styles from her grandmother's closet and contemporary pieces from today's styles.

The three new prototypes that the designers displayed from table to table were quite adorable--from neon handbags and heels, leopard print "fur" coats, to high heeled sneakers, the details look really fun!

I really wish photography had been permitted--I loved these girls!

New arrivals from Integrity Toys

The new FR:16 Monograms have started to arrive--Joe's List has new photos of Press Magnate Saskia Tate. (The last two links are the real life photos!)

I have to admit, I may need to cave in and buy this girl--several people in my doll group have bought this line, and I can't wait to see her in person. She really looks nice! Edgy, avant guard, without being to snobby or cartoony. I can't wait to see more!

I hope Super Poppy is as cute!

Let's Play Barbie outfits and dolls, available separately from Joe's List!

Do you love the new reproduction line of Let's Play Barbie dolls, but rather not have the entire set? Do you need a couple of extra dolls to display the outfits? If you'd rather not deal with reselling your extras, Joe's List has the solution for you.

Currently, the blonde, brunette and redhead ponytail dolls are all in stock at $99 per doll. The first fashion,  a reproduction of Garden Party, is also available separately for $69. You'll be able to buy the other fashions separately as well, also for $69 per fashion, and they are currently available for preorder.

While the combined price of $175 from BarbieCollector.com might be a better deal for the entire set, this is a simple way to pick up some extras at a reasonable price. Joe will always give you great service, too!

I should mention--I saw the Garden Party fashion at our doll meet last weekend, and wow! It's really well put together. I have to confess I was sorely tempted, even though I "don't collect reproduction." (Sure, just keep telling yourself that, Alison.)

Additionally, if you have any of the new FR:16 or Poppy Parker Teen Models on order, check out the extensive collection of $29.99 sale Gene fashions. From my experience, Spring Kissed (FR:16) fits Gene fashions just about perfectly, except that Spring Kissed is just a little taller. Poppy is supposed to be a little shorter, so these might be perfect!

Delightful Antoinette

Delightful Antoinette by alington

I've redressed Spring Kissed FR:16 in Delightful Antoinette's outfit. It fits very well, though the shoes are a little wide for her feet.

In between the shots, I've taken some nude body posing photos for those of you who are interested in her new body style. You can see them on Flickr.

Integrity Toys Spring Kissed FR:16 - a review

Spring Kissed FR16 by alington
Spring Kissed FR16, a photo by alington on Flickr.
A recent addition to my Integrity Toys collection is the W Club exclusive, Spring Kissed, the first of the brand new line of FR:16 dolls, which replaces the AvantGuards brand. Spring Kissed was one of the W Club exclusive doll choices for joining this year, 2011, and she has just shipped. Extras were made available to Club members for a price of $160, and that is how mine arrived to me.

The reason I purchased this doll primarily is because of her face. She has a new face mold, which to me, in real life, has some similarity to Poppy Parker. Her facial screening is elegant and simple--reminding me a little of a Monogram doll--with applied lashes, soft metallic peach lips, brown eyes, and neutral shimmery eyeshadow and ultra soft blushing.

Her hair is lovely--long, blonde and mostly straight with a tiny bit of bend. It is styled in a side part, pulled off her face with a miniature braid. The light color of the hair, just behind the front style, appears to be rooted just a tad bit thinly, so I think I will leave the hair styled as is--just in case you think of taking your doll's hair down.

The doll is on a newly redesigned FR:16 body. I wasn't able to attend the Jet Set convention, but I thought I'd heard that the FR:16 bodies would be something like the new FR.Squared bodies. Spring Kissed is jointed at the hips below the torso, but her belly and torso are a single piece and beautiful. She is also jointed under the bust to allow for slouching and natural posing. Her hands are removable, and her elbows and knees, while surprisingly single-jointed, provide for over 90 degrees of movement. And the joints look really good, too. The doll included only one pair of hands--her left with open, separated fingers (she wants a ring, I think), and the right with the ability to hold something (such as a cocktail).

Additionally, she feels really sturdy without being too heavy, and her joints move smoothly and hold poses well without being swingy. She can kneels securely, too. She's got a fantastic body. I love it! Also, it's a model body, and slim, but it isn't too skinny. Her thighs and calves have shape, and she has a lovely curve to her body as well. Her feet and hands are well-proportioned to her face.

My least favorite thing about this doll is probably one of the most practical things about her: her feet. She has articulate ankle joints, separated toes, and also a joint at the toe as well. It allows for her to wear almost any size or shape or slope of shoe--open or closed toe--even those thong sandals. But bare-foot, she's not my favorite. And honestly, while her bare feet give me the willies just a little, I think the ability to be able to wear some many shoes (look at the stilettos she's wearing!) probably overrules any qualms I have about her feet.

Her shoes--WOW. They are actually woven. With zippers up the back and faux tan leather on the sides. And the tallest heel I've seen for a while. Just gorgeous. Additionally, she included subtle rhinestone earrings.

The outfit includes short tweed shorts, woven from cream, orange, yellow and gold yarns, which match the elegant overcoat perfectly. I can see these pieces worn with a fluffy silk blouse in gold or tan, or the coat paired with a taupe or shimmering sequined skirt. But the best basic piece of the outfit is the simple tee she wears underneath. At first, I thought it was just a sheet cream colored tee. But no--underneath lurks a lace lining. It's such a subtle detail, and such a delight to discover: it brings this doll up to such a real-life experience. I'm really thrilled.

Finally, you may have noticed some Christmas decorations in my house lately. It's because Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year! For the cats. And they do love climbing the tree and eating the birds. That, and the tree gives you some amazing Bokeh shots. :)

UPDATE: Dreamcastle Dolls currently has this doll on consignment. She's never been removed from her box at a bargain price of $185. Great deal!

Jet Set Convention Saturday event

The W Club Luncheon on Saturday featured a gorgeous FR2 centerpiece doll. It's Tatyana's head sculpt on the newly articulated FR2 body. She's called Exceptional. Her dress and accessories are gorgeous.

Guests were also given acrylic chairs as favors, in addition to the chance to purchase this gorgeous centerpiece doll.

After the luncheon, W Club members were introduced to two new FR2 dolls, featuring the original Vanessa and Véronique head sculpts. Evermore, the new Vanessa Perrin doll, was offered as an exclusive doll to purchase for event attendees. I wish I had been there! She is gorgeous, and is the doll that would convince me to add FR2 dolls to my collection.

Already, she is listed on eBay at around $300 starting price. Some attendees have listed her for a Buy-It-Now of $380, so I doubt she will be added to my collection anytime soon.

The good news for those of us who weren't able to attend the convention this year: The FR2 -bodied Véronique doll will be offered via lottery to all W Club members in late October! Hooray! I also hope that  this isn't the last we will see of the original Vero and Vanessa head sculpts. I'd love to see them in next year's line-up.

Additionally, news of the delayed 16" W Club doll, Spring Kissed, was presented with a sneak peek of Integrity Toys' new collection, FR:16, which takes the place of the AvantGuards brand. The dolls have a redesigned body, and Spring Kissed will feature this body. Payment notices for this doll are scheduled soon.

For those of you who have forgotten what Spring Kissed looks like, here she is:
