In celebration of Valentine's, I thought I'd do a series of posts on pink dolls. These dolls are either currently in my collection, have been in my collection, or I wish they had been in my doll collection (meaning, they might be in my doll collection in the future). Perhaps this is the "Timeline" version of the Fashion Doll Review.
First up, the quintessential splurge contemporary collector Barbie. If you love Barbie, have money to burn, or happen to get a good deal, Pink Splendor is a must for pink lovers. She was the first collector Barbie to retail for $1000. Now, you can find her for much less, of course, especially when she isn't in her box.
She features a silk satin dress, trimmed with gold and rhinestones, a white pink bow trimmed with roses, crystal jewelry, gold plated shoes, silk panties with iridescent stockings and garters, and a huge dramatic braided up-do.
She's from 1996 and a limited edition of 10,000, which, at the time, was considered a limited edition.

Steffie of the day: Summit Barbie
By
Unknown
From the 1990 Barbie Summit, this is one of the four souvenir dolls offered. They aren't really limited in number, as far as I know.
There were four versions created: a white version, african american, asian sculpt, and this lovely hispanic sculpt, which uses a lovely wide-eyed Steffie face.
Her hair is very 1990s, but her make-up fairly subdued. You can see more photos on Flickr.

Steffie of the day: 1990 Fashion Play Hispanic
By
Unknown
From 1990, this Hispanic version of Fashion Play Barbie is surprisingly hard-to-find at a reasonable price. Well, let's just say when I say, "reasonable price," I mean, "price I want to pay."
I was obviously able to find her. She is so 1990s and so very lovely: tan skin tone, lavender and gray eyes, lilac make-up, bubble gum pink lips, gigantic brown hair. She comes dressed in a white and lavender teddy.
More photos are available on Flickr.

Steffie of the day: Lights 'n Lace Teresa
By
Unknown
From 1991, Light 'n Lace Teresa fits the early 90s era. She's dressed in opalescent glittered turquoise lace with purple trim, complete with a wrap, oversized hair bow, giant earrings, cowboy boots with lace garters, and a flashing buckle.
Her hair speaks for itself: the wall of bangs and poof just got bigger and bigger throughout the 1980s, and in 1991, the year of my prom, we did just about everything we could to get our hair B-I-G.
Ah. Those were the days. I sure don't miss them.
But isn't Teresa's face just adorable?
See more photos (of her outfit) on Flickr.
