Cosmo, Segi and Dandy: New Dandy boy from Peak's Woods!

The Dandy boy from Peak's Woods has made his debut! He is adorable! There are three sculpts here: Dandy (he looks like a modified boy version of Bella the moon), Segi (as a boy), and Cosmo, who is a new sculpt. Guess whose coming to dinner?

Goldie Grail

Goldie by alington
Goldie, a photo by alington on Flickr.
On days like today, I can see when doing the dolly shuffle is all worthwhile. I'm in the middle of like-it-or-love-it frenzy, as I recently discovered two older dolls on the marketplace which I have been longing to add to my collection for years.

The first has arrived, and she does not disappoint! You can see her deboxing photos on Flickr. She is one of the first suntan Goldie BJDs produced by Peak's Woods in 2008, and she is indeed gorgeous.

Her resin is a much lighter shade than later tan dolls by the same company, and she has yellowed only slightly over the past years. She's in excellent condition--she only needs to be sueded.

I'm surprised by how much I love her face-up. I was thinking I might prefer a more dramatic or smokey eye--but I'm delighted by this lighter face-up style, which was painted by Lilikoi.

Taking the first few photos of this doll has really encouraged me to continue in the endeavor. I think you'll be seeing more for-sale posts from me shortly!

Bow Jjang in Amelia Thimble

Bow Jjang by alington
Bow Jjang, a photo by alington on Flickr.
Head's up, Amelia Thimble fans! If you like Amelia, you might want to consider the new Monthly Fairies from Peak's Woods in Korea.

You can order them directly or also from Denver Doll Emporium (Denver Doll has Coco Rain and Fiona in stock! I have both of these cuties, too). The starting price is just $110, and a face-up adds only $20. Dolls are sold nude and bald from the company, but outfits and wigs are available separately.

These cute dolls fit Amelia fashions well--down to the shoes. They pose really well and can stand on their own. The expressions are just adorable!

Fortune Cats

Fortune Cats by alington

So they aren't actually dolls, but they are still pretty cute.

I thought I'd share them with you, dear readers, today. Two "Fortune Cats" from Peak's Woods, one black, one pink, I have to listen to my kids each time I get them out, and explain why I can't unroll their fortunes.

Help Out Your Fellow Dolly Friend & Vote

In honor of a photo contest put on by Peak's Woods on Facebook, I decided to make a special outfit for my FOF Hucky.  The contest requires a person to take a picture with their doll, so I made sure Hucky's OOAK outfit matched mine.  We are both sporting pink dresses with white dots.  Can you also tell I did some bokeh work with my camera?

Now, I need your help!  If you are on Facebook, please "like" my photo on the Peak's Woods page.  Your help will be greatly appreciated and will actually help contribute to further MegannArt dolly clothing on new doll bodies.

Remember, go to this photo on Facebook to vote, and you have to "like" the photo itself, not a comment, feed, etc.

Support an artist!  Visit my website (MegannArt) for an Etsy shop, Twitter, Facebook (with occasional discounts), Pinterest page, and much more.  Plus, there is even a new pattern book out now that has some BJD patterns, called Dolly Bureau!

Bella the Moon

Bella the Moon by alington

Waaa! Another wonderful addition to my BJD family is Bella the Moon by Peak's Woods. I'm calling her Lady Almathea, after Mia Farrow's character in The Last Unicorn.

She shipped as a full set, and I just love her unusual and almost ghostly face up. She's hauntingly beautiful.

A doll in the hand...

Moonie by alington
Moonie, a photo by alington on Flickr.
... is worth two in the box?

This is a brand new size for Peak's Woods, one of their Monthly Fairy dolls, February's birth month, Moonie. She is only 10 cm tall (that's almost 4 inches). She's dressed in an Amelia Thimble fashion, which is a near perfect fit.

These dolls are articulated now, which is super cool, and very cute. I have several on the older style body, which were only articulated at the neck. But I plan to do head swaps, so I can have different expressions.

She's so cute and tiny. Their face-ups are so amazing. Of course, Peak's Woods quality is obvious even in the tiny size--she can stand on her own, right out of the box, and pose her little arms and hands. They stay right where you put them.

Honestly, I'd love to have all twelve in my collection! So cute.

More photos can be seen on Flickr.

The kitty bomb.

Charming Rogita by alington
Charming Rogita, a photo by alington on Flickr.
Do you know you else likes to kitty bomb my doll photos?

Bear.

This is Rogita, on Peak's Woods Absolute Beauty body, who happens to be just about the same dimensions as Tonner Doll's American Model. She's modeling Charming Lady, the fabulous new outfit by Tonner Doll.

It's actually a pale blue, not gray, and it's a separate skirt and jacket. Simply a gorgeous outfit.

Rogita is wearing her default glass eyes and a LeekeWorld wig in Khaki (really, it's a dark green!).

And yes, that's Bear's tail there. You can see more photos, without Bear crashing the frame, on Flickr.

Our new turquoise wall is in use!

Meet Honey Queen Yeru, a tanned version and limited edition by Peak's Woods from 2011. I think she's simply gorgeous.

You can see some additional photos on Flickr--but mostly, I wanted to show off my wall.

Gorgeous Peak's Woods dolls available from a great seller!

Peak's Woods Shaia
My friend and fellow BJD enthusiast Stephen has a few wonderful Peak's Woods dolls listed for sale. Pick them up--at fantastic prices--while you can. These girls are large BJDs (58 cm), and are usually hard to find.

Created for a limited time for last year's New Year's event is Suntan Shaia. Stephen is offering this lovely girl with her limited edition face-up (including the gold glitter eye liner) for just $600. He is including a long auburn wig and fashion with this price as well.
Peak's Woods Goldie
Goldie is a hugely popular sculpt by Peak's Woods, and I'm sure you can see why. Stephen has her listed for sale for just $600. (She is also a 58cm large BJD.) She will include a long blonde wig and a DollHeart fashion.
Peak's Woods Briana - Sweet Dark
Sweet Dark Briana is listed for sale for $650. She includes her default raven wig and eyes, and gorgeous face-up by Peak's Woods. Stephen is also including a DollHeart fashion with this auction as well. (She might be my favorite, and I only have a tan Briana. Someone buy her, quick, so I am not tempted!)

Not only is Stephen a great and reliable seller, he's a fantastic guy and sings great karaoke!

All gorgeous photography is by Stephen Parker.

Shoes, shoes, shoes.

So... would the real Alice in Wonderland please stand up?

Probably not in these shoes! But who says you can't have a little fun with your designs? These are Rogita's shoes and stockings, also by DollHeart. I just adore them.

If you're staying away from traditional BJDs because you're attached to high heeled fashion shoes, let me introduce you to Absolute Beauty, the new body by Peak's Woods. She has both flat and heel feet--and yes, they are easy to change! Plus, they fit DollHeart's SD13 high heel shoes perfectly.

The dolly photo bomb.

Kisha by alington
Kisha, a photo by alington on Flickr.
Does this happen to you?

You're trying to take semi-serious doll photos and boom! Someone uninvited shows up in your background.

It seems like every photo session I have an eager "helper."

Kisha is the doll shown above--a Peak's Woods BJD dressed in Val Zeitler and Leekeworld wig. Bear is on the coffee table, and Chanel is walking in front of her.

IFDC, here we come!

I'm making my final preparations for IFDC today--including a trip to the salon with my two daughters this morning--hooray! And I should post a photo of my living room--it's such a mess. I have managed to stay off the evening news, which is a good thing.

I have many boxes of goodies for sale, books, dollar bins, a freebie bag, table gifts, hostess gifts, and items for my workshop, plus a catalog for the Peak's Woods dolls I'll be able to order for you at convention as well.

I can't wait to see you!

More mixing of vintage and contemporary

Naomi in Let's Dance by alington
Naomi in Let's Dance, a photo by alington on Flickr.
Here is Naomi (Peak's Woods/Dollmore BJD hybrid), modeling a wonderful (and minty!) vintage Barbie fashion, Let's Dance #978.

Naomi is also wearing eyes by Mint on Card, a wig by Glib (from Junkyspot), and shoes by Tonner Doll from a Tiny Kitty wedding ensemble. I believe I've also added a petticoat to the outfit.

Lady Bee in Carol Peters

Lady Bee by alington
Lady Bee, a photo by alington on Flickr.
A nod to mod--This is Peak's Woods Lady Bee, a mini ball-jointed doll (42 cm or about 17 inches), dressed in a one-of-a-kind outfit by Carol Peters, a member of my doll group. She made this lovely outfit, including panties and stockings, for our Christmas gift exchange.

I think the fabric is just perfect--color and and scale. The outfit also fits Ellowyne and Tyler, but I wanted to model it on lovely Lady Bee today. (My BJDs have sort of migrated over to the BJDs for Beginners website of late.)

Lady Bee has a face-up by Beesou of Overnight Flight, and is wearing a wig by Monique Gold and glass eyes by Mint on Card.

New line of OOAK dresses inspired by Peak's Woods' Shaia

A few months ago, Peak's Woods released a new Fairy of Color BJD by the name of Shaia, with a radiant suntan skintone. In her promo pics, Shaia wore this gorgeous strapless, red chiffon gown that we all fell in love with, but couldn't buy because the outfit wasn't being produced or sold. Such a teaser!

After a couple requests from doll collectors who also fell in love with the dress, I created a line of  one-of-a-kind SD-sized dresses inspired by the first, but with several variations on color, print, fabric, shape & trim. My own Peak's Woods Yulli was gracious enough to model for me.

In the market for a previously loved Peak's Woods?

I drive a Mini Cooper.

It should be assumed that as a direct result of the type of car I drive, I tend to drive on the more speedy end of the spectrum.

I got a speeding ticket this morning, and I need to find a way to pay for it. Sadly, the first thing that came to mind were my precious Peak's Woods girls.

So, if you are in the market for some lovely BJDs, here is your chance to get two stunning beauties at a great price. Through FDR, I am asking $500 for each.

Goldie:

Yami:

Each of these lovely ladies will come with a random wig and random pair of eyes. They need your love...and I need your money!

My New Year's Resolution - Stop Speeding!!!

If you are interested in either of these girls, please shoot me a message at melissa.metheney@gmail.com

Honey, I shrunk Abby!

I recently created a mini wardrobe for a Peak's Woods Cue, at the request of friend, and fellow FDR blogger, Kathie. The doll was a Christmas present for Kathie's daughter, Sarah, who loves the show NCIS, and especially the character Abby Sciuto. As soon as a wig and boots were found by Kathie, it was up to me to dress her in clothes that Abby would wear.

Bring a lovely Peak's Woods girl home for the holidays!

If you frequent The Fashion Doll Review, you have undoubtedly seen some lovely Peak's Woods girls. In order to help with funding of further dolly / holiday purchases, I am parting with one of my own Peak's Woods girls - a Fairy of Colors Yeru.

Yeru is a charming little lady! She is an older Peak's Woods girl with the S-hook loop in her headcap and she has also yellowed a bit. In spite of her yellowing, she is very lovely. I worked a lot on buffing some of the yellow out of Yeru, and I think she is just fine as she is! She is very tightly strung, but as a result, she stands like a rock! Yeru has a beautiful custom face-up, and would love to come home with you for the holidays!

Since she isn't quite as pristine as a brand new dolly, I am only asking $400 + shipping for her. This is nearly $200 off the original price! If you might be interested in bringing Yeru home, send me an email at melissa.metheney@gmail.com
