West Coast Tonner Event exclusives from Wilde Imagination

Does This Make Me Look Happy? - Wilde Imagination Ellowyne
Two exclusives from the West Coast Tonner Doll event are available now from Wilde Imagination. Above, Does This Make Me Look Happy? Ellowyne has painted blue eyes, a red wig (I think it's a wig) and a gorgeous outfit--a blouse with a lace overlay, patterned skirt, lace tights, armbands, and lots of jewelry. She's limited to 300 and retails for $185.

Unfortunately, Evangeline Ghastly Disenchanted Evening has already sold out. She was priced at $210 and limited to 130.

Exclusives from Wilde Imagination Wilde Weekend

Available now from Wilde Imagination (and in limited quantities), you have the opportunity to scoop up a few of the exclusives from A Wilde Weekend, a few of the adorable dolls from the latest convention.

Shown above, Secret Garden Iris, it's Amber with red hair, gray eyes and applied lashes. She's limited to 200 and $185. Oh man, do I love her sour look! She's such a crab!

Secret Garden Daffodil is a blonde Prudence with painted green eyes and applied lashes. She's limited to 200 and $185. So cute!

All in green, Secret Garden Ivy is a dark brown haired Lizette with painted green eyes with lashes. She's also limited to 200 and $185. Lizette is gorgeous anyway--but this one--oh! I love her!

This set reminds me a little of Tonner's birds from the Flights of Fancy collection. Just be careful, or all three might show up in your doll cabinet, sort of unexpectedly!

Decadent Daydream is a resin Ellowyne with interchangeable blue eyes and a blonde wig. She's limited to 125 and $475. I love her outfit. (Whew! I'm so glad I wasn't there in person, since I'm a sucker for resin!)

Diggin Deeper Rufus has dark brown hair and blue eyes. He's limited to 100 and is $160. (Get it? Digging? Isn't he a mortician or something?) His outfit is just adorable.

Graveside Flowers is a resin Evangeline who stands 18.5" tall. She includes a blonde wig and inset blue eyes (I think they are changeable, but it doesn't specify on the website). She's limited to 200 and retails for $475. So glad to see her in resin again.

Weekend at the Manor Mortimer stands 19.5" tall, and he has inset blue eyes and raven hair. He's vinyl with 14 points of articulation. He's limited to 100 and $210. Wow--a new size--and with inset eyes that are actually life size. I'm really impressed!

Phin and Thea make an appearance as well. Both are limited to 150 and retail for $185. You can buy them as a set for $310. Their outfits are just amazing.

Amelia - Ouch! has inset green eyes is complete ball-jointed. She's limited to just 125 and retails for $150. (So sweet!)

Hamish - Little Gardener is limited to 125 and retails for $150 as well. His little gardening tools are included--and wait--do I see an open mouth? Cute!

Izzy - Flutterby is limited to 125 and retails for $150. Limited quantities are available! OK--she is adorable. Darker toned resin is really hard to pour--and it's great to see she's the same price.

Secret Garden Bag - This special doll bag is still available in limited quantities for $30.

Rush of Rose Gold - from new BFC Exclusive

Photo is property of Mattel
Rush of Rose Gold is the fourth and final doll of the precious metals collection, following Splash of Silver, Glimmer of Gold and Pinch of Platinum--all Barbie Fan Club Exclusive dolls from Barbie Collector. She is designed by Robert Best and a Platinum Edition, priced at $85. She's limited to less than 1000 dolls worldwide, and is scheduled to go on sale to Barbie Fan Club members only on June 13, 2012 at 9:00 am, PST.

Members are limited to one doll per membership, while supplies last. Get your membership now, if you're interested in purchasing this lovely girl. Memberships are still available for $24.95, and this year, memberships have been limited to 7500 worldwide.

I didn't realize this earlier, but international members are welcome, if they have a US or Canadian shipping address. It's really quite a good deal--even still--with the exclusive dolls and the quarterly $20 discounts!

Ultra rare Platinum Hope Diamond Barbie

Hope Diamond Barbie, Italian Doll Convention
Don't wait--if you love Barbie, get your act together and pick up this fantastic ultra limited Platinum edition Barbie from the Italian Doll Convention.

Signed by Robert Best himself, who attended this convention in person, this gorgeous Hope Diamond Barbie is a rare platinum-haired version and an edition of just 180 pieces. You can pick her up from Kathie's Fashion Dolls in mint never-removed-from-box condition at a starting bid of just $379.99 on eBay, or better yet, buy it now for $425.

You get this fantastic price just because of a minor dent in the box on the box cover, as shown in the eBay listing--but don't wait! This doll won't last long! This doll has been selling for $550 and up, and is currently listed at Marl & B for $599! You won't be able to beat this price.

Kathie is known for her fantastic customer service, she is a US dealer, and she ships worldwide. I can personally vouch for her amazing service! Plus, you'll be supporting one of the absolute sweetest doll dealers I know and a dear personal friend. She is a top-rated seller on eBay, has 100% positive feedback, and over 37,000 of them, if I might add!

Several special items from Marl & B

Did you miss out on Nu Mood Bettie from Tonner Doll? Marl & B still has one in stock for close to retail at $51. She is sold out at Tonner Doll and at many dealers (limited edition 500).

Additionally, Marl & B received a limited edition (one of each) of several older and very hard to find Barbie Fashion Models Silkstone dolls, including my favorite, Violette. She is a limited edition of just 999, and I was hoping I might be able to pick her up for Mother's Day--but not at the retail price of $999.99! But you should go click on her photo anyway--she is lovely.

Additionally, you should check out super special platinum edition City Smart (LE600), who was sold only in Japan, listed at $1,999.99 in 2003.

And yesterday, there was a listing for a special brunette version of Chataine listed, for $899.99, but she is already sold out. Congrats to the lucky new owner! Wow!

Happy Valentine's Day - Part 3

Madame a la Framboise by alington
Madame a la Framboise, a photo by alington on Flickr.
Madame a la Framboise by Tonner Doll Company is a doll I really do miss having in my collection. She was a table centerpiece from the 2010 convention, and uses the Kit sculpt.

She's a reimagined Rococo style doll with a gorgeous red updo and a rather outrageous outfit. You don't see her very often!

You can see more photo of her on Flickr.

Happy Valentine's Day - Part 2

Glinda by alington
Glinda, a photo by alington on Flickr.
Next up, we have Goodreau Doll's Glinda, from the Upside Down Oz collection. She is a vinyl BJD, who comes fully dressed, with a face-up, wig and outfit.

Ideal for the beginning BJD collector, this vinyl ball-jointed doll is perfectly pink, and perfectly sturdy. She has blue interchangeable eyes, which are already set perfectly, which give you the power to change them if you like, but you don't have to.

Her outfit is really fun--she includes a ruffled tee, knit cardigan, fun tiered skirt, sparkling boots, tights and necklace. She's a modern Glinda.

Though originally released in 2009, you can still find her for sale at some retailers, such as Sweetheart Dolls, and Katherine's Cottage.

Happy Valentine's - a celebration of pink

Pink Splendor by alington
Pink Splendor, a photo by alington on Flickr.
In celebration of Valentine's, I thought I'd do a series of posts on pink dolls. These dolls are either currently in my collection, have been in my collection, or I wish they had been in my doll collection (meaning, they might be in my doll collection in the future). Perhaps this is the "Timeline" version of the Fashion Doll Review.

First up, the quintessential splurge contemporary collector Barbie. If you love Barbie, have money to burn, or happen to get a good deal, Pink Splendor is a must for pink lovers. She was the first collector Barbie to retail for $1000. Now, you can find her for much less, of course, especially when she isn't in her box.

She features a silk satin dress, trimmed with gold and rhinestones, a white pink bow trimmed with roses, crystal jewelry, gold plated shoes, silk panties with iridescent stockings and garters, and a huge dramatic braided up-do.

She's from 1996 and a limited edition of 10,000, which, at the time, was considered a limited edition.

Warrenville Heights, OH 44122

Registration is $199, and includes the exclusive event Tonner Company doll (Daphne sculpt, dressed and wigged in 18th century French fashion), program and lunch (served at noon), exclusive access to salesroom (for attendees only) and raffle. The raffle will benefit Hattie Larlham Services, a non-profit organization that provides services to children and adults with developmental disabilities.

Out of town guests may reserve rooms at special rates at the hotel. Visit FDF's home page for registration information. Payment may be made in full or in timed installments. Checks or Paypal are accepted.

There will be several Absentee Packages available, which include just the doll (shipping is additional). Contact FDF soon to order yours. (It's Daphne dressed in Rococo style, people! Of course I ordered mine!)

Fashion Doll Friends is a fashion doll club based in Cleveland, Ohio. They were established about three years ago. They currently have less than 10 regular members, and they are growing. They meet monthly at the Hilton Hotel in Beechwood. They welcome new members and visitors. Their mission statement:
The purpose of our organization is to promote the education, learning, and love for collecting fashion dolls.
I was able to contact this group directly, and they kindly agreed to an interview. Several of their group's members have organized such luncheons in the past, which Mr. Tonner has attended. He was the obvious choice for their event's guest of honor as well.

In the design of the event doll, the group requested the sculpt and the theme of the doll, but they have not seen the final design.

At the event, there will be a salesroom (vendors are still welcome) available to attendees only, including vendors from many areas. The raffle will consist of several one-of-a-kind dolls to be raffled off during the event, and will include donations from the Tonner Doll Company. Proceeds, as stated above, will benefit the Hattie Larlham Services.

Fashion Doll Friends is happy to accept donations. The best way you can help is to spread the word about the event, and attend, if you can. (I would love to go in person--Ohio is so far from California!)

If you are in the Cleveland area, or if you are interested attending this event or an absentee package, visit Fashion Doll Friends' website for more information.

Also, if you will be attending and can take photos at this event and would like to write a report for this blog, let me know! I'd love a guest post!

Photos property of and provided by Fashion Doll Friends, and are samples of raffle doll outfits only. Actual dolls will vary, and may or may not be included in the raffle.

Sold out LE at Peak's Woods

Limited edition of 2 FOC full set Yulli, sold out.
This lovely girl is the 15th limited edition BJD offered by Peak's Woods from their limited edition specials. Thank goodness she's also sold out already. She's also on my list. (My wish list at Peak's Woods is pretty long, if you have not gathered this already.)

Yulli with limited edition face-up
Yulli included the limited face-up, pink wig, eyes, and the outfit and boots shown. Isn't she cool? I love funky colored hair on dolls.

I recently had a fellow doll collector ask what the difference between a limited face-up and a regular face-up was, and this doll is a great example.

Yulli with basic face-up
In Yulli's case, the lips are the biggest difference. With the basic doll, I have always considered this doll an open-mouth sculpt. With the limited edition make-up, however, the lips have been painted in lighter shades in the center, so it looks like she has a poutier mouth and bee-sting lips instead.

Additionally, the eye shading makes a significant difference in the doll as well. The limited edition has more liner at the bottom inner corner of her eye, which makes them look more defined, and possibly makes them look closer together. It also changes the appearance of her nose.

I like both versions of the doll. Peak's Woods is a great company, and does fantastic face-ups. If you want something specific, you can always ask. Now, I will need to decide which style I like better, when I finally do add Yulli to my collection.

All photos are property of Peak's Woods.

Peak's Woods limited edition Lottie

Lottie Real, full-set limited edition. Sold out at Peak's Woods.
Photo property of Peak's Woods.
Lottie Real is the latest addition to Peak's Woods Christmas event. She's a normal skin, large bust Fairy of Color, and is nearly a full-set doll, including her eyes, wig, default face-up, wig, extra hands, and outfit (but no shoes). Unfortunately, she has already sold out. But you can still buy the basic doll.

And actually, I have just found out some news! Lottie Real is actually a new, permanent addition to the FOC line. Just like Briana has two face-up options, so does Lottie. She is now available as Lottie Ani (the original face-up) and as Lottie Real (this one).

If you're itching for a limited edition, the full set Naomi is still there--she is so cute.

I have to confess, I did order Lottie (the original) when she was first available with free shipping. I don't have her yet, but she is beautiful! If this is her default face-up, I can't tell you how excited I am! Wheee!
