New Momoko: Ambivalent Girl

You read the title of this post right.  The new Momoko out is called Ambivalent Girl.  Her description provided by Sekiguchi is pretty great too:

"She smiles like an adult, and the next moment she turns around and gets sulky.  Whimsical momoko doll changes her mood quickly like how cat's eyes change."

She is 13,440 yen and will be available in August 2013.

What do you think?  I can tell you I'm a fan of those silver boots and tattoo.

Bella the Moon

Bella the Moon by alington

Waaa! Another wonderful addition to my BJD family is Bella the Moon by Peak's Woods. I'm calling her Lady Almathea, after Mia Farrow's character in The Last Unicorn.

She shipped as a full set, and I just love her unusual and almost ghostly face up. She's hauntingly beautiful.

My latest addition is Iplehouse Aria, white resin SID. She's got make-up style A, and she's just lovely.

Here, she's in an Iplehouse wig, and in the White Swan dress and bolero, and I think she's just wonderful.

You can see additional deboxing photos on Flickr.

Where are all my personal posts, anyway?

Ashanti by alington
Ashanti, a photo by alington on Flickr.
Well, I've been a bit distracted lately. It happens. We're finally at the end of the school year, and the kids are home. My doll collection is in a dire need of a makeover!

I've finally received a much-anticipated ball-jointed doll from Iplehouse, EID Ashanti, in special real skin. She's even more gorgeous in person than I was originally expecting or hoping. Check out her photos on Flickr if you like.

Additionally, I've been going through my collection and leaning more towards a contemporary feel (if not more casual) for my dolls. That means, many of the costumes (historical and gothic, for example) have been making their way out of here. I also have been rethinking the Alice costumes, but I haven't committed to anything yet.

We've got IFDC (the International Fashion Doll Convention) coming up, and after that, the National Barbie Collectors Convention. Wow! I just can't believe how quickly things are happening.

Anyway I'll try to post more photos. I've been feeling much improved, at least health-wise--so lots of fun doll-events coming up soon.

Recently on the PetWORKs website, people could vote for a 2008 CCS Momoko to come back as a Today's Momoko.  Well, the votes are in and it looks like 08SS The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Cowardly Lion won. W Club Exclusive Jem & the Holograms doll

The final W Club exclusive doll has been announced, and it's an exclusive Jem and the Holograms doll - Broadway Magic Jem. She retails for $119, and will be shipping in the fall of this year. W Club members have till June 17 to complete their orders for this doll, and every member is guaranteed the right to purchase one of these dolls. Edition size will be based on the number of orders received.

She includes a cardboard diorama backdrop which requires assembly (designed by Alain Tremblay), a wireless microphone, a fake love letter from Rio, tickets and the showbill to her debut show, and a ticket to Ellis Island.

Her outfit includes Jemstar earrings, pink pumps, and a strapless asymmetric gown with a white ruffle. Jem uses the Japan skin tone, side glancing blue eyes, and pink rooted hair in a partial up-do.

Better late than never--SDCC Integrity/Hasbro Jem exclusive

Integrity Toys has previewed the doll Hasbro will be offering at the San Diego Comic Con booth #3329 (July 18-21, 2013) as its Jem and the Holograms exclusive doll: Glitter 'n Gold Jem/Jerrica Benton. Additionally, as an IT Direct exclusive, Glitter 'N Gold Rio Pacheco will be offered as a companion.

Jem uses a new, smiling face sculpt (I think it's really cute, actually!), and she has pink and golden blonde hair (I love it!) with hand-applied lashes. She includes two fashions:

  • an evening look, which includes a white satin bodysuit with gold embroidery, gold mesh tights, gold pumps, gold lamé high slit skirt with oversized bow, white faux fur stole with lamé trim, bangle bracelets, and Jemstar earrings
  • white pencil skirt and matching pumps, which match the bodysuit for a separate look
Additionally, she includes a stand, a microphone, her Glitter 'N Gold award, and extra posing hands. (The Jerrica Benton doll is sold separately.) The doll uses the Japan skin tone and has a new facial screening with side-glancing eyes.

According to an email from Integrity, the entire production run and sale will be handled by Hasbro, and they will be handling all sales at the SDCC booth. You'll need to be there in person to buy it--any extras will be available for sale online at the Hasbro Toy Shop, but in the past, these dolls have sold out quickly. Interestingly, I don't see an edition size listed.

Integrity is producing a limited edition Glitter 'N Gold Rio Pacheco doll. His cost is $119 plus shipping and handling, and he will be available for the public for sale on July 17, 2013. W Club Members will be giving a priority link starting July 16, 2013. He will be available while quantities last, and will be shipping the week of July 22. Again, I don't see an edition size on this doll, either.

He has rooted purple hair, side glancing blue eyes, and is a Latino skin tone FR:Homme body. He includes a gold jacket, long sleeve shirt and bow tie, plus white pants, shoes and socks. His accessories include a gold watch, record, a white rose for Jem, and champagne bottle and glasses for a toast. Of course, he also includes a stand.

Save 20% from Tonner Doll and get free shipping!

Use the promo code HOTHOT20 when you check out and take 20% off your entire order (with some exclusions) and get free ground shipping from Tonner Doll. The offer is valid through June 8 at 11:59 PM EST.

International customers should email their order numbers to Tonner directly for a $9.95 shipping credit, as instructed here.

Exclusions:
Tropical, Patsy Basic #2 & 3, 22" Scarlett

Lady Emily

Lady Emily by alington
Lady Emily, a photo by alington on Flickr.
Another beauty from the latest Tonner convention, I had to add Lady Emily to my collection. While I don't officially collect historically themed dolls anymore (I find that the outfits aren't as versatile as I'd like, and they just take up too much room to display and store), this lady had to come home because she is a resized Daphne!

She uses a Cameo-toned Antoinette body with beautiful mink hair in a braided up-do, and painted blue eyes. Her outfit is a Victorian style, with a white, lace collar blouse, blue satin skirt, and bright red bolero with blue piping, gold accents, and ribbon trim at the shoulders.

Her accessories include pearl stud earrings, blue pumps, and a large blue satin had with red feathers and a huge tulle bow.

At the Round and Round at the Carousel Ball event, three additional centerpiece dolls were offered, all limited to 100 on the Antoinette body: Lady Catherine (pale blonde Antoinette), Lady Agnes (strawberry Duchess), and Lady Ann (raven Precarious). The souvenir doll was Lady Grace, Cami with chestnut hair, LE300. These dolls are still available to order for $199 from Tonner Doll, but are mostly almost sold out. Lady Emily is sold out already.

You can see a few additional photo on Flickr.

Kandy Kane

Kandy Kane by alington
Kandy Kane, a photo by alington on Flickr.
A new arrival from Tonner's latest Age of Innocence convention, this is Kandy Kane.

She uses the Daphne sculpt, now usually only found at conventions, one of my favorites from Tonner. She uses a cameo Tyler body with rooted bright red and platinum hair in an elaborate braided up-do, trimmed with ribbon and candy, and painted green eyes with gold eye shadow.

I'm actually quiet impressed with the details of her outfit. Her dress is white satin with red sequins, ribbon, and beaded trim. The straps are made from starlight candies and beads. She's got a gorgeous red sparkling net petticoat in a large polka dot pattern.

Her Christmas green lace leggings are patterned in hearts, and are layered with red and white striped, lace-trimmed leg warmers. She's wearing matching arm warmers, and red sparkling canvas pumps.

She includes an extra pair of "gripping" pose hands, so she can hold her resin candy cane. The base of her stand is painted like a starlight candy.

I've added the crystal beaded earrings.

You can see additional photos of this lovely girl--so much prettier in person than her promotional photo, I think--on Flickr. She's still available from TonnerDoll.com.

She's a centerpiece doll, and a limited edition of 150. She'd be a lovely Christmas decoration, and if I can bring myself to redress her, a Valentine's sweetheart, too.

New: Malibu Barbie by Trina Turk

With an expected shipping date of 6/13/2013, this brand new addition to Mattel's designer collection is Gold Label Malibu Barbie Doll by Trina Turk. She has been designed by Bill Greening, one of my favorite designers at Mattel.

Inspired by the original Malibu Barbie of 1971, this new rendition is dressed in an adorable floral print bikini and a lacy white cover-up. She also includes a blue satin peasant blouse and floral print shorts, as well as a coordinating oversized hat.

Like any designer doll, she includes some fabulous accessories: white sunglasses, a pink cuff bracelet with rhinestone, ring, straw tote with Trina Turk logo charm, floral print scarf, sunscreen, floral print beach towel, and fantastic platform sandals.

She's available to order at BarbieCollector now, with a limit of five dolls per order. I think she's just adorable!
