Another YouTube video, since that last one was so fun... this one is a reference about the Dolls of the World that use the Steffie face.

Steffie of the Day: DOTW India
By
Unknown
This Dolls of the World India is a harder to find version of the original 1981 issue. I believe this version was manufactured in smaller numbers.
She differs from the other version (also made in 1981) in the following ways:
Here's a quick photo of the more common first version I had in my collection.
She differs from the other version (also made in 1981) in the following ways:
- Her eyes are even larger and lined a little differently.
- The gold fabric of her top is lamé, like the fabric used in Golden Dreams, rather than mesh.
- Her hair is very dark brown, not black.
- The red fabric is shot through with a brighter red metallic thread. The other version uses a metallic burgundy.

Dolls of the World and Birthday Wishes Barbie
By
Unknown
Mattel has also released a new Birthday Wishes Barbie who I believe uses the Mackie sculpt with adorable side glancing eyes. (At first, I was sure this was Steffie, but upon a second glance, I'm pretty sure this is Mackie.)
She is currently listed for $39.99, and possibly may not ship till 2013. She is dressed in a lovely pink dress with puffy sleeves with a voluminous pink tulle skirt with silver glitter.
Several new Dolls of the World have also been announced as well. They are listed at $29.99 each, with shipping dates to be determined.
No photo is available yet for the new Dolls of the World Canada Barbie. Her outfit is inspired by the Canadian Mountie uniform, however, like the previous DOTW, only she will be dressed in a skirt. (I can't wait to see!)
Dolls of the World France also uses the Mackie sculpt. She is dressed in a black shirt, blue gingham skirt, and black beret.
Dolls of the World Spain is dressed in a lovely black polkadot dress with a red tiered skirt. I'm not positive, but I think she might use the new Skipper face mold.
Dolls of the World Philippines is dressed in a white lace blouse and long skirt with alternating gold and black panels.

New items from Barbie

The Dolls of the World collection dolls are now in stock, with another--Hawaii--on the way in the middle of June. The Doll Genie currently has the collection of the four in-stock Passport Dolls of the World (Australia, Ireland, China and Argentina) on special for $99.95. These dolls retail for $29.95 each.
Additionally, you can find a new Dolls of the World Mexico, India, Holland and Chile, which will be in stock soon. Currently, they have just arrived at Barbie Collector, and should be arriving at your favorite Barbie dealer as well.
Each Passport doll includes a passport, special pet, country stickers and brush.
A quick note about the Doll Genie: If you're a contemporary Barbie collector, you should definitely consider becoming a Magic Carpet Club member. There are lots of fun benefits, including special sales, secret points (which are addicting), monthly raffles, dented box sales, and lots more fun stuff. They have their own message board, get sneak peeks on new dolls, can get free shipping on special days (I just won free shipping today!), and win extra prizes. It's kind of a fun little perk!

Ever wonder what happened to all those Statue of Liberty Barbies? Well, they are available again--from The Stature of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, according to this press release:
CELEBRATE 125 YEARS OF LIBERTY THIS HOLIDAY SEASON WITH STATUE OF LIBERTY BARBIE®
Proceeds Benefit Projects at Liberty & Ellis Islands
New York, NY (November 30, 2011) — Are you trying desperately to find Statue of Liberty Barbie® to give this holiday season in honor of the Statue’s 125th birthday? You’re in luck! The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation has just announced it has refreshed its supply of Statue Barbies in their online gift shop at www.ellisisland.org. Not only does the Foundation offer Barbie donned in her patina-inspired gown and carrying a clutch inscribed with July 4, 1776 from the Statue’s tablet, but it pairs her with a handcrafted three-dimensional brass ornament, “Lady Liberty’s 125th.” The perfect gift for lovers of these two legendary ladies! Statue of Liberty Barbie® is offered for $39.99 and together with the 2011 collectible ornament is just $64.99, a savings of $5 if both were purchased separately. Proceeds help support the Foundation’s non-profit mission at the Statue and Ellis Island. Details at www.ellisisland.org.

New Dolls of the World Barbies for Fall 2011
By
Unknown
Four new Dolls of the World have been announced and are available for pre-order from your favorite Barbie dealers. They are scheduled to ship in December 2011, but aren't guaranteed for Christmas. They are part of the new Passport collection, and include a plastic animal pet. MSRP is $24.99, I believe.
- Australia: wearing an olive green short-sleeved blouse with puffed sleeves, a cream skirt and dark brown boots. She's blonde, has a cowboy style hat and a koala.
- China is dressed in a printed red long gown, black pumps and includes a panda. Her dark hair is in a partial updo.
- Argentina has a cat, and she's dressed in a short lift blue tango style dress with black fringe and a lace shawl. Her blond hair is trimmed with a rose.
- Ireland has red hair, of course, and is dressed in a traditional green, white and gold dress, and has an Irish setter puppy.
For photos, check out Angelic Dreamz and Joe's List.
