16" Vintage Basic

16" Vintage Basic by alington

Finally, she's out of her box. This is Tonner Doll's 16" Vintage Basic, a lovely Daphne sculpt with red lips and long, long spiral curls.

She uses Tyler's convertible foot body, though she only includes heel feet. Her outfit is similar to the American Model Vintage Basic, released a few years ago.

You can see some additional photos on Flickr. I think she redresses well. Here are a few more photos.

Smoldering Seduction

Smoldering Seduction by alington
Smoldering Seduction, a photo by alington on Flickr.
She's always been a grail of mine. Smoldering Seduction Daphne is from the 2006 Effanbee collection and was limited to 250 dolls. Her original retail was $229.99, which was fairly expensive. I believe her higher price point is probably due to her outfit. It's made of silk chiffon fabric, plus an embroidered gold and purple embroidered micro-sequined overlay. She also has a rhinestone trim at the bust, rhinestone jewelry, and gold bow-trimmed sandals.

She uses the a pale bending wrist body body (instead of her usual tan skin tone) and has platinum curls. She has blue forward-glancing eyes, not her usual green. I think she is even prettier than her promotional photos.

You can see additional photos of her on Flickr.

Surprisingly, I was able to find this doll NRFB from Just Imagine Dolls, a Tonner/Effanbee dealer.

Smoldering Seduction

Smoldering Seduction by alington

My next project is coming along very smoothly! I'm working on Daphne: Out of the Box.

With my latest purchases and trades, I found a few dolls on my list that had been proving to be a bit elusive. The one you see above is Smoldering Seduction, who has been grail of mine. I think she's lovely. She came from Just Imagine Dolls, who have just started a page on Facebook. (Their customer service is great--and they have a great selection of older Tonner and Effanbee dolls. Go check them out!)

You can check out my latest arrivals on Flickr. Just before dusk yesterday, I took a bunch of yucky (well, not very sharp) iPhone photos, and I've uploaded the set for your criticism--er, enjoyment.

The remaining dolls I'm looking to beg, borrow or steal for photo sessions are:
  • 2004 Effanbee's Midnight Enchantment
  • 2004 Black & White Ball
  • 2004 Creme de la Creme
  • 2004 Divinely Daphne
  • 2004 Platinum Panache outfit
  • 2005 Crystal Celebration outfit
  • 2005 Resort Daphne
  • 2006 Moonlight Mystery
  • 2006 Mirror Mirror
  • 2007 Noel Angel
  • 2009 Madame a la Menthe
  • 2010 Garden Party Iris Raven
  • 2011 Wilhelmina Wonka
I have a number of dolls I can trade, or I'd be more than happy to simply "borrow" your doll. I can do that by buying it from you, and then selling it back to you at the same price after the photo session. We would arrange in advance how long the doll will be in my possession, as well--I usually only require a day or two, depending on when the doll is received. (My home is non-smoking, though I do have several cats. I would take very, very good care of your doll.)

If you can help me, let me know. Contact me via the Flickr messaging system, or at the email I've listed on my DollPage account. Thanks!

Iris as The Parrot

The Parrot by alington
The Parrot, a photo by alington on Flickr.
This is Garden Party Iris, modeling The Parrot fashion, one of the centerpieces from the Flights of Fancy convention (Tonner Doll 2012). This outfit was probably my favorite of the five birds.

Iris is a red-haired Daphne sculpt on an Antoinette body, and a Metrodolls exclusive from a few years ago.

Fashion Icon

Fashion Icon by alington

One of the 2013 Metrodolls luncheon, Style Evolution, event dolls is Fashion Icon by Tonner Doll. She is a limited edition of 125, and is a gorgeous auburn (wigged) Daphne. Her makeup is elegant, and accents her grey eyes perfectly. (I'm not usually a fan of red lips, but I adore this girl!)

In addition to a gorgeous spaghetti strap satin and chiffon cocktail dress, she comes dressed in a vintage overdress with asymmetrical snaps down the front. Accessories include rhinestone studs and black peep-toe pumps.

You can see additional photos in my Flickr photostream.

If you like this doll, you may still be able to purchase one from Metrodolls directly for $200 plus shipping. There is also a souvenir Ellowyne, Metro Girl, available. She's limited to 250. I didn't add her to my collection.

Be sure to check out all the fantastic fashions available, too.

Lady Emily

Lady Emily by alington
Lady Emily, a photo by alington on Flickr.
Another beauty from the latest Tonner convention, I had to add Lady Emily to my collection. While I don't officially collect historically themed dolls anymore (I find that the outfits aren't as versatile as I'd like, and they just take up too much room to display and store), this lady had to come home because she is a resized Daphne!

She uses a Cameo-toned Antoinette body with beautiful mink hair in a braided up-do, and painted blue eyes. Her outfit is a Victorian style, with a white, lace collar blouse, blue satin skirt, and bright red bolero with blue piping, gold accents, and ribbon trim at the shoulders.

Her accessories include pearl stud earrings, blue pumps, and a large blue satin had with red feathers and a huge tulle bow.

At the Round and Round at the Carousel Ball event, three additional centerpiece dolls were offered, all limited to 100 on the Antoinette body: Lady Catherine (pale blonde Antoinette), Lady Agnes (strawberry Duchess), and Lady Ann (raven Precarious). The souvenir doll was Lady Grace, Cami with chestnut hair, LE300. These dolls are still available to order for $199 from Tonner Doll, but are mostly almost sold out. Lady Emily is sold out already.

You can see a few additional photo on Flickr.
