BFC Email

Oh! So--I'd been wondering why I hadn't been receiving much email from the Barbie Fan Club lately, and I came across a rather helpful post on the message board today.

First, with the new message board, your default setting is to not receive messages from BFC. I checked, and sure enough, I hadn't set my preferences to receive promotional email. Here's how to do it:

  1. Log in to your account at BarbieCollector.com.
  2. Click on Your Account (first drop-down menu at the top of the screen, under "Hello, [your name]."
  3. Click on Edit Preferences (about a third of the way down the page in the My Account tab, it reads, "Edit Profile" and "Edit Preferences."
  4. Scroll down to just above the bold Privacy Preferences section, and click the checkbox that says, "Sign up for email updates from BarbieCollector.com."
  5. Click the pink Save button.
That's it. Just so you all know, the BarbieCollector email is a little different than email you get from ordering a catalog or placing an order.

So. That's not so hard. I'm embarrassed to admit I haven't done this sooner!

W Club exclusive coming soon to My Favorite Doll

Exquisite, FR Monogram collection.
Exquisite is name the FR Monogram dressed doll coming soon to My Favorite Doll. She is a limited edition of 300, and is being sold through a WClub lottery, at a price of $175.

This beautiful blue-eyed blonde is dressed an embroidered ball gown. The bodice of the gown is ivory and gold with a lace overlay, finished with a navy belt. The large wide skirt is a deep teal blue with gold embroidered flowers cascading down the hips. Her hem is bustled in the front with a small fuchsia bow.

She has lovely pink and red flowers in her updo (which the promo email deems "fantastic"). Her accessories include gorgeous oversized gold bejeweled earrings and coordinating flower platform sandals.

She is definitely not for the faint of heart--she reminds me of the grand finale look of a designer's collection, sashaying down the catwalk.

I entered the lottery--I can't help myself. I just love those bright colors. (I'm such an 80s girl at heart.)

Sock tutorial PART 1: one-shoulder top for 16" doll

The finished project on Peak's Woods "Lottie."
There has been a trend in my local doll groups lately to make doll clothes from socks. So, I thought I'd challenge myself to see how many different garments/accessories I can make from a pair of socks. I'll show you the steps, in case you want to try them, too!

Sock size: women's size 6-9
Sock thickness: medium
Sock height: crew

10 Reasons you should attend a doll club

  1. You'll see many different types of dolls in person.
  2. You might discover a new brand type of doll to collect yourself.
  3. You'll learn something new each meeting (including the club rules).
  4. You'll meet new people who have something in common with you, even if it's only collecting dolls.
  5. Most doll collectors are delighted to meet other doll collectors--and I've found they are very nice people.
  6. You'll discover other doll-related sales, workshops, conventions and shows in your area.
  7. It's a great way to step out of your comfort zone.
  8. Two words: sales and swaps!
  9. You might meet a customizer, older collector, or someone who sews who is willing to share their knowledge with you.
  10. Chances are, you'll meet someone who is saner than you, and someone who is nuttier than you!
