New from Integrity Toys: Poppy Parker Fashion Teen

I'm surprisingly delighted with the announcement of the latest Poppy Parker Fashion Teen line. These 16" dolls from Integity Toys, designed primarily by David Buttry, are adorable. The inspiration behind this collection is: Paris on a grand scale!

Sunny Splash is a basic dressed doll, limited to 300, for $120. She will be arriving soon--the second week of October (hooray!). She has lavender eyes with rooted lashes, and brown rooted hair in a side wrapped ponytail. Her two-piece bathing suit is adorable--with ruffles and a high-waisted bottom. And her accessories are fabulous: a beach bag, hat, sun glasses, beaded sandals, beaded bracelets and earrings (because Poppy doesn't go anywhere not decked in jewelry--that's why we love her!), and a towel. The color scheme is super cute!

Fashionably Suited is also limited to 300, $140, and will also be arriving in the second week of October. She has light ash rooted brown hair and brown eyes with applied lashes. I adore this outfit! It's a pink tweed two-piece tailored suit, with a navy blue camisole and a matching scarf. She's also wearing navy hose, gloves, hat, and pumps. Her statement necklace, bracelet and understated earrings keep her from looking too overdone. Of course, no outfit is complete without the perfect purse--which looks like a tiny Chanel chain purse.

Ma Chérie is limited to 300, retails for $140, and will be arriving the second week of October as well. This look reminds me a little of Foto Fab, only in a taller size. She has strawberry blonde hair in a braided updo, and green eyes with applied lashes. Her outfit is a satin cocktail dress with black lace overlay, belted at the waist with a bow. Finishing touches include gloves (not shown), drop earrings, a bracelet, clutch, veil, and t-strap shoes.

Last but not least, Floating Dream retails for $140, is limited to 300, and is arriving the second week of October. Poppy has her platinum hair styled in a 1960s era partial updo, with blue eye and applied lashes. This big event gown has a fitted corset style bodice and a ball gown skirt with multiple layers. Her jewelry is understated--pearl drop earrings and an unusual pearl necklace and matching bracelet. She completes her look with a clutch and matching pumps.

I'd like to note that these dolls have the same size body as Tulabelle. They are slightly smaller than FR:16 dolls. And I've found that the fashions fit Fairyland Chicline dolls rather perfectly. I am thrilled with this release!

New Poppy Parker dolls

Five new dolls have been released with a June 2013 delivery date. Poppy Parker at the 1965 International Fair provides us with international costumes and Poppy as we haven't yet seen her. These dolls are limited to 750 each and retail for just $89.

My favorite is the pale skin tone, red-haired Poppy called Sweet in Switzerland. This beauty is dressed in a white dotted chiffon blouse, full pale blue skirt, dirndl belt, white jersey tights and blue tweed cape. She also includes a muff, faux fur hat, and fur trimmed ice skates. Her facial screening is similar to Foto Fab.

Spicy in Spain provides us with a mid-toned brown haired Poppy with a layered lace skit, and chiffon and satin blouse with lace sleeves. She includes a hat, black pumps, an embroidered clutch, hoop earrings and ruby ring. She uses a new style of facial screening.

Pretty in Polynesia gives us a versatile raven-haried Poppy with tan skin. She uses original facial screening (from the first release of Poppy--think Reluctant Debutante and Portrait in Black). She includes a patterned bathing suit and matching wrap skirt, and blue satin jacket. Her accessories are a lilac clutch and matching pumps, multicolored bangle bracelets, beaded necklace and flower for her hair.

Irresistble in India is limited to 750. We see a brunette, dark skin tone poppy in an elaborate India sari. She includes a gold clutch and pumps, lots of bracelets and beaded earrings. This doll uses the gorgeous Bergdorf facial screening.

Joyful in Japan features a platinum Poppy with an updo, lavender eyes, and doll dressed in a pink kimono with coordinating obi. She includes pearl stud earrings, white clutch and pink pumps.

It's difficult for me to choose a favorite! I'm partial to both Switzerland and India. Just lovely!

Sunset Cocktails

Sunset Cocktails by alington
Sunset Cocktails, a photo by alington on Flickr.
This is Nitey-Nite Peggy, a basic wigged Peggy Harcourt from the 2012 DeeAnna Denton collection, dressed in Sunset Cocktails, both by Tonner Doll Company.

This doll and outfit were some of my most highly anticipated preorders of the season, and I'm quite pleased. Peggy is on the new 16" curvy body, and I think she's channelling Joan from Mad Men. Her hair is styled like this right out of the box. Just perfect.

You can see a few more photos of Flickr. And Dreamcastle still has both the doll and outfit in stock at the best prices around.

IT: Poppy Parker Luncheon

For me, the most highly anticipated event was the Poppy Parker luncheon. Sea Breeze Poppy Parker is the centerpiece doll, and she features a lovely open shirtdress with seahorse-printed capris, sorbet jewelry, a straw hat, and wedges.

Each guest was treated to a pack of vinyl inflatable pool furniture as well.

Lots of news was announced at this event--including the introduction of a new friend and broadway actress/singer for Poppy, Loni Lawrence. Lemon Crush Loni Lawrence was a gift doll for each attendee. (She uses the Holly Golightly sculpt.)

Designer David Buttry gave away a few secrets for next year's Poppy Parker line. It is inspired by the 1964 New York World's Fair! From what I could tell, these are structured fashions with navy, red, white and yellow.

Day Tripper Poppy Parker

I received a preorder including Poppy Parker and Darla Daley today.

First up: Day Tripper Poppy Parker. I wasn't sure I'd like her freckles, but they are really cute in person.

Her hair is cute--a platinum flip. She has aqua eyes, applied lashes, and heavily applied make-up (gold and brown shades).

She's wearing a fun structured turquoise cotton dress with a belt and pockets, yellow trench coat, yellow cap, patterned hose, and boots. She includes turquoise earrings. Her train case closes magnetically, and it's really well done.

Tropicalia? What is it?

Image from FlyGirlBlog.com

Based on the Integrity Toys upcoming convention, I found the following article on Tropicália from Wikipedia:
Tropicália, also known as Tropicalism, is a Brazilian music movement that arose in the late 1960s and encompassed theatre, poetry, and music, among other forms. It came under the influence of avant-garde artistic trends and pop culture and foreign (such as pop rock and concreteness); mixed traditional manifestations of Brazilian culture to radical aesthetic innovations. Tropicália was influenced by poesia concreta(concrete poetry), a genre of Brazilian avant-garde poetry embodied in the works of Augusto de CamposHaroldo de Campos, and Décio Pignatari, among a few others.[1] However, Tropicália is associated almost exclusively with the musical expression movement, both in Brazil and internationally, which arose from the fusion of several musical genres, like Brazilian and African rhythms and rock and roll
Additionally, I found more information on The Barbican's website. Apparently, this movement was formed in response to the military dictatorship in Brazil at the time. While it only lasted from 1967-1972, its influence can still be seen today in musicians such as David Bowie, David Byrne, Beck and The Bees.

In doing an image search for "tropicalia," I came up with quite a range of images, which I'm including with links to their original sources here as well. Psychedelic colors, flowing fabric, large prints, fruit hats, beads and feathers seem to be recurring themes--just from my short searches.

Lady Bee in Carol Peters

Lady Bee by alington
Lady Bee, a photo by alington on Flickr.
A nod to mod--This is Peak's Woods Lady Bee, a mini ball-jointed doll (42 cm or about 17 inches), dressed in a one-of-a-kind outfit by Carol Peters, a member of my doll group. She made this lovely outfit, including panties and stockings, for our Christmas gift exchange.

I think the fabric is just perfect--color and and scale. The outfit also fits Ellowyne and Tyler, but I wanted to model it on lovely Lady Bee today. (My BJDs have sort of migrated over to the BJDs for Beginners website of late.)

Lady Bee has a face-up by Beesou of Overnight Flight, and is wearing a wig by Monique Gold and glass eyes by Mint on Card.
