2013 Barbie Fan Club registration is two days away--February 6 for existing members--and the first official club doll is a pretty Silkstone girl called Boater Ensemble. Her retail is $85, and she's limited to one doll per member and 4500 pieces.
You'll also receive a free black dress form with your $24.95 registration. Other exclusives planned this year:
- Black and White Collection™by Linda Kyaw, a new Platinum label series, Beaded Gown Barbie
- Holiday Hostess Barbie
- and one additional surprise doll
New members will be permitted to register beginning February 13 at 9 AM PST.
One note to our overseas readers: While international collectors may join the BFC, you must have a US or Canadian shipping address, as Mattel does not ship overseas. The BarbieCollector.com shop does accept international credit cards, however, so if you can find a US shipping partner, you too can become a member.

Evening Gown Barbie at Barbie Collector!
By
Unknown
Perhaps my favorite from the new Atelier Silkstone Collection series so far, Evening Gown Barbie is now available for order--from BarbieCollector or your favorite Barbie dealer. Her retail is $125, and she is a Gold Label doll designed by Robert Best.
The sheer bodice overlay of her gown is embellished with white beads, iridescent sequins and silk flowers, displaying a floor length elegance pink flared skirt beneath. A white pleated overlay adds drama to the outfit. Accents include pink gloves, rhinestone and pearl drop earrings, and cross strap shoes.
The doll herself has ultra-soft facial screening with neutral pink lips, and smokey eyes with winged eye liner. Her two-toned hair is styled in a classic updo.

Several special items from Marl & B
By
Unknown
Did you miss out on Nu Mood Bettie from Tonner Doll? Marl & B still has one in stock for close to retail at $51. She is sold out at Tonner Doll and at many dealers (limited edition 500).
Additionally, Marl & B received a limited edition (one of each) of several older and very hard to find Barbie Fashion Models Silkstone dolls, including my favorite, Violette. She is a limited edition of just 999, and I was hoping I might be able to pick her up for Mother's Day--but not at the retail price of $999.99! But you should go click on her photo anyway--she is lovely.
Additionally, you should check out super special platinum edition City Smart (LE600), who was sold only in Japan, listed at $1,999.99 in 2003.
And yesterday, there was a listing for a special brunette version of Chataine listed, for $899.99, but she is already sold out. Congrats to the lucky new owner! Wow!

New Barbies from 2012

Walking Suit Barbie BRFC |
There are two new additions to the Twilight collection: Breaking Dawn Part I Edward and Bella, who retail for $34.99 per doll, both finely dressed in wedding attire. Bella has a particularly lovely facial screening, I think. These dolls are due in the spring of this year.
Ken has a new eco-conscious car, a MINI Cooper, which is available and in stock now for a price of $39.99. While no dolls are included with this set, it's high time Ken quits mooching off his girlfriend and gets his own wheels. There's lots of great detailing on this vehicle, including side mirrors that move, MINI logos on the hood and hubcaps, and a Ken vanity plate.
Two have particularly caught my eye, even though I don't collect Silkstones anymore (I don't, I don't, I don't--and telling myself this isn't working, LOL!).
Walking Suit Barbie, shoe above, is a fun tribute to the 1950s, dressed in a slightly oversized printed black and whit houndstooth suit. The tiny upturned collar and oversized chiffon white bow add interested and class to this blond side-glancing girl. She includes a handbag, umbrella, black hat with netting (I'm sure that's what gets me), and hatbox. She's due to ship in March, and retails for $75.

Party Dress Barbie BFCM |
Party Dress Barbie also caught my eye. Her brown hair is styled in a gorgeous updo, trimmed with a Tiffany-style tiara. She's dressed in a cream-colored cocktail dress with gold and lace overlay and turquoise satin bow trim, along with a matching bolero, gloves, and shoes. Her rhinestone and pearl earrings give her just a touch of elegance, without being overdone. She is also due to ship in March, with a retail price of $100.

Grace Kelly Silkstones, Sinatra, Elvis and more Barbies on sale at Gilt!
By
Unknown
Check out Gilt.com for some great sales starting today at 9 AM PT on brand new Barbies from this year's line-up!
I don't have price information yet, but they are usually pretty good. The dolls I've seen in person are really gorgeous, especially the Grace Kelly bride.
I perhaps should go back and fix my tweets so I can at least get her name spelled correctly. Whoops!
Update:
I have some price information for you. First, the Rear Window Grace Kelly doll is available as a pre-release (she's officially due in December 2011) for $34.95.
The Romance, The Bride and To Catch a Thief are at their prospective retail prices: $125, $150 and $35.
Sinatra, Elvis and Dynasty's Alexis are listed at $25 ($10 off their retail prices).
Pillow Talk gift set is listed at $58 (instead of $70), and Lucy & Ricky are listed at $47 (from $70).
Unfortunately, this sale isn't as stellar as their last Silkstone sale, which has items listed at 50% off retail prices.

10th Anniversary Tribute Silkstone
By
Unknown
She arrived yesterday, mysteriously in a box. And she's gorgeous. I adore her. This is the Silkstone I "accidentally" ordered.
Her face seems rounder than some Silkstones. Her hair is an absolutely fan-tab-ulous updo. Her dress--gorgeous chiffon and satin, with elegant gold embroidery with pink and iridescent sequin accents.
Her slate blue spikes have a hard time staying on her feet. And since I'm new to these dolls, can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong with their stands? Is it me? Is it Mattel?
I love her facial screening, in spite of the chunky glitter. Normally I can't stand chunky glitter (I love shimmer and shine, but not glitter!), but for some reason, her pale lips balance out the near excessive glitter on her lids.
See the rest of her photo shoot on Flickr. And see her dress fabric as the current background (at the time of this post, anyway) of our blog. It looks almost Rococo when tiled.

One of the dolls that mysteriously arrived at my door.
Just kidding! She was my first SIlkstone. I bought her nude, and then the complete outfit from a friend. I think she's just lovely.
I realize as I'm posing this photo that her hair bow is probably in upside down. Oh well! I hate it when that happens. Check out the rest of her photo shoot, including her 'bedroom slippers," on Flickr.

OOAK Fashion Doll Series: Silkstone Barbie Dolls by Steve Skutka
By
Kathie
These Silkstone Barbie dolls have all had their hair rerooted and restyled, facial paint removed and repainted, and their fashions designed and made by Steve Skutka.
I love them because of their vintage look and classic style.
#1 Brunette Ponytail in silk sheath. The closed-toe shoes are by Dressmaker Details. The hat design is similar to Vintage Barbie's Commuter Set hat.

The Showgirl
By
Unknown
A birthday present from my daughter Lauren--a very generous gift--to help me on my new habit of Silkstone Barbies.
Lauren is a great girl to have on my side--never one to scrimp on feathers and sequins. (I'm a little scared, since she's only seven.)
I love this doll, The Showgirl. Pink, satin, beads, glitter, feathers, you name it. A little like a gorgeous, more elegant flamingo. And her right glancing eyes are perfect.
She reminds me a little of Glinda. The very good witch of the north. Or something.
