Another update to the Steffie list. I was able to look upon an actual Kissing Christie doll from 1978 yesterday. I don't think she's a modified Steffie sculpt. I believe she is a modified Mod Barbie sculpt. Her face is a little narrow for Steffie.
Does anyone who reads this blog have an opinion about this doll? I'd love to hear your opinion.

Addition: I found another article on Steffie-faced dolls that is interesting by Rebecca Chulew. Be sure to check it out. It clarifies the license agreement between Mattel and Brazil's Estrela dolls.

Does anyone know what face sculpt was used for the James Bond Barbie? She is one of my all time favorites. i think it may be the Mackie, but I am unsure. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteOn the Celebrate Disco dolls from 2008. Only the AA/Nikki one uses the Steffie facemold. The one you call Teresa is actually the Mackie facemold. You can find see her here: http://www.barbiecollector.com/shop/doll/celebrate-disco-doll-barbie-doll-n2441 I own both these dolls and can confirm they are different headsculpts.

The Target exclusive Barbie Basics are called Collection Red not 1.5.
You're missing the 2009 National Barbie Doll Collectors Convention souvenir doll giftset called Tribute. It featured 2 dolls, one had the nostaglic headmold in an outfit designed by Carol Spencer and the other was a Model Muse body with the Steffie headmold in an outfit designed by Matt Sutton.
