New Holiday Barbies announced at Doll Genie

The 2015 Holiday Barbies have been previewed at Doll Genie. They are dressed in a red ballgown trimmed with lace, as a blonde or African American skin tone. Both dolls are scheduled for August 2015 release, and Doll Genie is offering them at $44.95 per doll.

Integrity Toys Lottery: That Holiday Feeling Poppy Parker

I can't believe I forgot to post this--but there was a lottery for a limited edition of 800 Poppy Parker doll, That Holiday Feeling, retail $120, who is currently in stock. W club members submitted their names to a drawing, and the lottery will be held December 15. Poppy will ship shortly thereafter.

This lovely doll has the FR white skin tone with black hair and green eyes, and lovely red lips. She's dressed in a wonderful white gown with embroidered bodice and red accents, and includes a red cape trimmed with "fur." She also includes lots of accessories: gloves, pearl jewelry, a clutch, muff, and red kitten heels.

The next Holiday Hostess doll and Barbie Fan Club exclusive is going on sale on September 12, 2012.

Yuletide Yummies™ is designed by Bill Greening with a vintage face, and she's wearing a lovely tea-length green satin dress with lace trim on the sleeves and and oversized plaid bow. She includes a beaded chain necklace, gold earrings, and red sandals. Her golden blond hair is pulled into a curled ponytail with a plaid bow.

She retails for $75 and is a Gold Label doll.

Pretty Poodle Momoko OOAK - She was a raffle win at IFDC from 2010, and my very first Momoko. She's a one-of-a-kind Pretty Poodle with straight hair and a little softer facial screening, donated by Petworks.

I think she's like a pink red riding hood, and I think she's just adorable.

Madame a la Framboise by Tonner Doll Company is a doll I really do miss having in my collection. She was a table centerpiece from the 2010 convention, and uses the Kit sculpt.

She's a reimagined Rococo style doll with a gorgeous red updo and a rather outrageous outfit. You don't see her very often!

Next up, we have Goodreau Doll's Glinda, from the Upside Down Oz collection. She is a vinyl BJD, who comes fully dressed, with a face-up, wig and outfit.

Ideal for the beginning BJD collector, this vinyl ball-jointed doll is perfectly pink, and perfectly sturdy. She has blue interchangeable eyes, which are already set perfectly, which give you the power to change them if you like, but you don't have to.

Her outfit is really fun--she includes a ruffled tee, knit cardigan, fun tiered skirt, sparkling boots, tights and necklace. She's a modern Glinda.

Though originally released in 2009, you can still find her for sale at some retailers, such as Sweetheart Dolls, and Katherine's Cottage.

Happy Valentine's - a celebration of pink

In celebration of Valentine's, I thought I'd do a series of posts on pink dolls. These dolls are either currently in my collection, have been in my collection, or I wish they had been in my doll collection (meaning, they might be in my doll collection in the future). Perhaps this is the "Timeline" version of the Fashion Doll Review.

First up, the quintessential splurge contemporary collector Barbie. If you love Barbie, have money to burn, or happen to get a good deal, Pink Splendor is a must for pink lovers. She was the first collector Barbie to retail for $1000. Now, you can find her for much less, of course, especially when she isn't in her box.

She features a silk satin dress, trimmed with gold and rhinestones, a white pink bow trimmed with roses, crystal jewelry, gold plated shoes, silk panties with iridescent stockings and garters, and a huge dramatic braided up-do.

She's from 1996 and a limited edition of 10,000, which, at the time, was considered a limited edition.

Happy New Year from all of us here at the Fashion Doll Review.

Have you ever wanted to meet us? (Oooh, creepy!) Well, for me, Alison, you can meet me at Barbie Convention this year in Garden Grove, CA, and also at IFDC, where I will be teaching a seminar on, you guessed it, Ball-Jointed Dolls for Beginners! You'll want to be sure to make it to this year's IFDC, since this will be the 10th anniversary of this year's convention, and come to my seminar. It's like BJDs for dummies.

My doll resolutions are long this year, and I'm sure I will fail in them, as usual. And they unfortunately involve pruning. I'll post about them later. For now, I'd like to wish you a very happy, doll-filled New Year!

Do you think it's a bad thing for me to take artsy fartsy photos, just to post to Tonner's new Doll Duels site? Terri Gold, if you see this post and haven't uploaded any photos yet, this is a personal invitation/plea for you to do so. I will definitely vote for your TDF Theatre de la Mode photos, among your other gorgeous photos. Plus, then I will quit obsessing about taking soft focus shots, and be able to put away my Christmas tree, a.k.a. doll prop in the living room.

By the way, dear readers, if you're on Facebook, you must add Collecting Fashion Dolls by Terri Gold's fan page to your Likes list. She is so close to 500 likes! Plus, you can stay up-to-date on her down-to-earth reviews and to-die-for photography!

All I want for Christmas... and I even have a picture!

This is the time of year when most Americans seem to lose their minds, and spend like there's no tomorrow. Yes, we as a people throw financial caution to the wind, especially when offered irresistible door buster sales opportunities. January should perhaps be renamed "Resmorseuary," because that is the time the credit card bills start coming in, and most Americans realize that they will get their credit cards back down to reasonable balances just in time for NEXT year's Black Friday.

Doll collectors have this problem all year long, but I digress.

I have decided I want to rectify this situation with a very simple wish list, which includes only one item. Thankfully, Mabel, one of the members of my doll club, showed up with a beautiful simulacrum of the item I want. I am posting a picture of this item, and I will not caption the picture, since it should be obvious what it is, and why I want it. I have never seen one of these in reality.

Thank you, Mabel. You have made the acquisition of the thing I want most at this moment in time possible through your incredible artistry. Now I can show my family and friends EXACTLY what I want, without fumbling for words to describe it.

ADDENDUM: A last minute addition, but Mabel informed me that another member of our club, an equally great lady named Bobbi, helped her create this simulacrum. I always like to make sure that credit is given where it is due. So any kudos for this piece of artistry belong in equal terms to Mabel AND Bobbi.

Yeru is a charming little lady! She is an older Peak's Woods girl with the S-hook loop in her headcap and she has also yellowed a bit. In spite of her yellowing, she is very lovely. I worked a lot on buffing some of the yellow out of Yeru, and I think she is just fine as she is! She is very tightly strung, but as a result, she stands like a rock! Yeru has a beautiful custom face-up, and would love to come home with you for the holidays!

Holiday wish list?

Which dolls are on your holiday wish list this year? I have to confess, I have a Christmas doll and a birthday doll on their way to me already, so I can't complain.

Which dolls or outfits are on the top of your wish list this year? Are you giving any dolls as gifts? I am, but I can't post about them, due to some of the readers of this blog.

I also have to confess, as usual, I have to plan my ball-jointed doll gifts very early, so they will arrive in time for Christmas. And if you can believe it, both are Alice-themed.

The first is Lati Doll's Alice (it's the Grown-Up Bayer sculpt) shown above. She's a limited edition full-set tiny (only 16 cm tall), and she includes the little resin Cheshire kitty.

The second, from Peak's Woods, is the Lady Alice full-set. She is a YoSD size and adorable. I cannot wait. Of course, when the dolls arrive, I'll have to peek to make sure they have made it in one piece.

Tonner's latest release--I'm gonna die!

The new release from Tonner is here, and there is one particular outfit I won't be letting slip by!

The Rose of Versailles is a limited edition outfit of 100 pieces. (I believe this outfit may have been originally designed for a cancelled event, but I'm not sure. I'm thrilled to see it was produced!) Check out that hat!

The outfit retails for $139.99 and fits the 16" Tyler body. The pieces include the ivory and blue printed dress, the feathered floral hat, blue shoes, pearl earrings, platinum wig, and a blue choker with lace and cameo. Expected ship date is October 25. (I think the model is Carol Barrie.)

 From the Antoinette collection, putting in the holiday spirit is a new dressed doll, Chilled. She has blue eyes and platinum hair (it looks like it's pulled back in a ponytail). The doll has the bloom skin tone. She's wearing a gorgeous dolman sleeve bouclé dress, trimmed trimmed with faux fur, an off white matching faux fur hat, grey gloves and boots, and crystal bracelets.

Chilled retails for $179.99 and is a limited edition of 300. She's scheduled to ship October 25.

The next new release from the Antoinette collection has amazing facial screening. She's called Delightful and is dressed in a gorgeous fall/halloween toned printed suit with an over-sized collar. She includes burgundy gloves, pumps, and a fun multi-colored beaded necklaces. She is the bloom skin tone, and has auburn hair and blue eyes.

Delightful is a limited edition of 300, retails for $179.99, and is scheduled to ship on October 17.

From the Cami&Jon collection, we're treated to a gorgeous new Basic Platinum Cami. She's got inset acrylic eyes (blue) and long, rooted platinum hair (straight). She comes on the Antoinette body and is in the lily skin tone. She also has applied lashes. She doesn't include a stand--and she isn't shown with shoes. She may be an Ultra Basic doll.

If you weren't able to pick up a wigged Cami earlier this year, now is your chance. She retails for $89.99, and is expected to ship on October 25. She's a limited edition of 500.

Bridgehampton is a new outfit offering for the Cami&Jon collection. It's a pale blue and gold long dress, and includes matching beaded bracelets and gold shoes.

Next, a new collection has been introduced: White Christmas. The licensing for these dolls limit sales to the United States. Rosemary Clooney as Better Haynes is the first doll. She's limited to 500 and available for $199.99. 

The doll is a new sculpt on the 16" Tyler BW body. She has blue eyes and blond hair with the bloom skin tone. She includes a gorgeous red gown, white muff with beaded decorations, red gloves, beaded earrings, and red shoes. She's expected to ship on October 25.

Next is Judy Haynes. She has a new head sculpt on a bloom skin tone Tyler BW body. She has brown eyes and blonde hair. She includes a gorgeous red gown with cape. She also includes red gloves, beaded muff, red shoes, beaded earrings and a white faux fur hat.

Judy is expected to ship on November 8, and she's a limited edition of 500, and retails for $199.99. 

I love the new promo photo photography style--though I'd love to be able to see the shoes! Kudos to this new release! I'm thrilled.
