You choose the color (birch, black/brown or medium brown, and in some stores, the less expensive white and black are on clearance right now) and the shelf size. Height extensions are also available. You choose from a variety of doors, which is great to keep the dust off your collection.
The unit shown retails for $239.99, and measures 31.5" wide, 11" deep, and 93.25" tall. It's composed of a bookcase, a height extension unit, and glass doors.
Some things to consider first: these shelves are designed to be mounted to the wall for stability, and the center shelf in the tall units is not adjustable.
Lots of options, including a corner units, slimmer units for DVD storage, different door styles, glass shelves, and storage boxes are also available. Check out the entire line here. I can't imagine a better gift for a doll collector with open shelving!
I own several of these in the black/brown color for my collection, and the shelves are adjusted for tall BJDs, Tonner Dolls, and Barbies/Fashion Royalty dolls. They are just classy.
ReplyDeleteThey look great in my living room, and I feel proud to display my dolls in there without overwhelming guests with my collection.
Since you have these units, can you tell me if they are Cute, Fuzzy, Doll-Seeking Missile of Mass Destruction-proof? I know Nico and Lily both fall into that category, but they are young whippersnappers, and I have a cat (10 1/2 year old) who is the reincarnation of Houdini. He LOVES getting into cabinets or wherever else he is NOT supposed to be.
ReplyDeleteYes the doll cabinets are hard to find, and the retail is good to read, also the picture is also great.

Blue, my cats have not figured out how to get into them, but they are only one year old. However, you can get special door-shut mechanisms that will hold them closed better than the existing included ones, if your Houdini does figure out how to open them. (Like, push to open (probably not a good idea), or extra magnets, etc.)
ReplyDeleteDoes that help?
They're cheap and fit into any corner of your room whatever your storage or display needs are. I got 3 units for a corner and the dolls are displayed there now^_^ Love how you can pick the colour, height, and type of door you want.

Thanks, Alison! I WOULD have to get the extra closure mechanism. The hairy little monster figured out how to open the doors in this place 3 days after we moved in. Chet is barely one step ahead of our master escape artist. Camas thinks its a game.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alison, for this suggestion.
ReplyDeleteI have two Billy bookcases, but I use them for books. I use the Detolf for some of my dolls. But I'm re-thinking my Billy cases. Maybe with glass doors ... oh yeah.
;-D
Fashion doll review is pretty to see. In this peace of work is more information about doll gifts collection.
